Can the Solar PV Sector Survive Without 'The Consumer'?

I am surprised the herd mentality of so many people. Solar as a group is down almost 90% and the herd mentality says there are reasons to continue to be more bearish. This is the total reverse of when many people were upgrading solars to strong buy/out-perform when they were hitting all time high. I think based on contrarian principle, it is less risk to buy solars now than to sell short (if one can sell any short).
