I manage a few portfolios, all within my family and have refined my approach over 25 years in the market. I believe in value oriented stocks and subscribe to a couple of services that provide proprietary formulas to value individual stocks. I cross reference these services on excel sheets to find stocks that are undervalued and are gaining trading momentum. I do not invest in any OTC stocks or stock that trade less than 500,000 shares a day and prefer stocks that trade over a million a day. I also want stocks that have at least 20% more assets than liabilities on their balance sheet and stocks whose P/E is under 40. As a rule, my portfolios are usually about 25% in a basket of higher dividend stocks, 25% in the index ...More that has the most momentum (as an example, the S&P 600 small caps), 25% in stocks that are undervalued by my method mentioned above, and 25% in cash in order to take advantage of market opportunities when the market overreacts to events. I usually put trailing stops on my buys and I'm not afraid to trade. I subscribe to the saying that Bears get rich, and Bulls get rich, but Pigs get slaughtered.
