I'm a Medical Doctor. I retired in 2010 a few months prior to my 45th Birthday. I've been into saving and investing for many years and presently live off of my investments. I'm happy to say my net worth is 24% higher today than when I retired, 5 years ago, even after taxes and living expenses. Yes, I say that with a big grain of salt, as I know I was fortunate to have had a nice bull market run just after I left! I've read many books on the subject of investing, with a preference for value investing. I've also remained active in education and have pursued continuing economics courses at my local college. I've always enjoyed college and learning. I also enjoy philosophy, literature, music, and exercise. Presently, I concentrate on Asset allocation in my portfolio with an aggressive rebalancing strategy. I adjust my stock allocation between 37% to 87% inversely related to the overall PE of the stock market. I also have a smaller subset of individual stocks in which I use a value and momentum strategy. I strive to have an "appropriate" amount invested in the markets. I always try to remain open to learning more, as I know life will always have much to teach me.
