I'm a Medical Doctor. I retired in 2010 just before my 45th Birthday. I've been into saving and investing for many years and presently live off of my investments. I'm happy to say my net worth is 22% higher today than when I retired, 3 years ago, even after taxes and living expenses.
Yes, I say that with a big grain of salt, as I know I was fortunate to have had a nice bull market run just after I left!...lol. I've read many books on the subject of investing, with a preference for value investing. I did go back and take an economics course recently at my local college. Will probably add a few more in the near future. I always enjoyed college and learning. I also enjoy philosophy, literature and music... and
Presently, I'm trying to concentrate on Asset allocation in my portfolio. I adjust my stock allocation between 37% to 87% inversely related to the overall PE of the stock market. Hopefully, my strategy will be cautious enough to not get burned too badly when the markets turn against me, while having a high enough risk tolerance to still earn decent long term returns. I strive to have an "appropriate" amount invested in the markets. I always try to remain open to learning more, as I know life will still have much to teach me.
