  • Smog-infested Shijiazhuangn in China announces a plan to limit automobile sales of new vehicles to 100K this year and only allow households to to own at most two cars in an effort to improve air quality. Automobile analysts think more cities in China could be forced to limit the growth of automobiles due to worsening air pollution. The measures could put the brakes on some of the most ambitious plans of automakers (F, TM, FIATY.PK, HMC, NSANY.OB, VLKAY.PK, DDAIF.PK) for the country.  [View news story]

The move is expected to immediately boost SLW’s production and cash flow profile by adding expected average gold production of 110K oz./year over the next 20 years, or ~$3.7B at prevailing gold prices, Jon Ogg calculates.  [View news story]

  • SandRidge (SD) CEO Tom Ward is not the first energy boss to live large at shareholders’ expense (see Aubrey McClendon), but his extravagance would make J.R. Ewing blush and angry owners are right to want him out, Chris Swann writes. Ward has drawn $150M in payments since SD’s 2007 IPO; annual G&A expenses approach 8% of SD's market cap, and only Chesapeake comes close at 5%.  [View news story]

If u haven't done it do visit an Apple store, check out the sales force, note the upbeat attitude and pride in the products. And note the large scale sales occurring at schools for I-pads (no more book bags and kids with droopy shoulders). Let your mind wander through the professions and vocations and see the possibilities. My lament is I am at the age I can not bet the farm on an obvious winner.

Lots of good comments. Public lands belong to the public so hire a driller/transporter/di... for sale to the American public - only. Who is the government? We the people! If I were a multi national oil co. I would sit on any large "find" until it was profitable to sell. Americans deserve better from their lawmakers.
