  • 12 BDCs - The Good, The Bad And The Maybe? Part 8: KCAP Financial [View article]
Good info - thanks. Historically what has been the spread between the yield on BDCs and high yield indexes? Seems there may still be room for yield compression (valuation expansion) for the group.

  • Rentech Is Waiting For An Activist Investor [View article]
Your analysis is spot on. The other possibility, which no one has discussed yet, is either a financial or strategic buyer stepping in. They could easily pay $4/share and earn exceptional returns off the fertilizer business with optionality (if they want) in the alt energy biz. I'm relatively new to this name but am amazed at how little trust investors have in management. With liquidation value around $3.50 it will be hard for them to screw this up imo.

  • BP Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust: The Most Overvalued Trust of All [View article]
WHX is a completely different situation. It has a terminal date in about 4 years based on production rates at which point the shares will be worth nothing. The current value of BPT depends entirely on reserves and price. Based on Tyler's assumptions the stock is overvalued, but if you look at reserves over the last 3 years they have ranged from 55 million barrels to 98 million barrels. If crude stays over $100 BPT's reserves should increase to over 100 million barrels.
