  • Oil Companies Offer Short-Term Pain, Then Long-Term Gain For Dividend Investors [View article]
    >>>When those SUVs really get guzzling<<<

    Mike, six,

I read somewhere today where somebody upgraded GM to buy because of an increase in SUV sales which have higher margins. So maybe its already begun.
Long term I am not worried about oil stocks of the high quality companies like XOM (unless I see my neighbors start driving solar powered vehicles). Short term maybe there is more pain esp among the lesser quality companies.

  • Exxon Mobil - Patiently Positioning For The Future [View article]
    Mark,

I must say I am impressed by your article. Very good information as I am currently strongly considering adding to my XOM position. I want to add during this energy related correction and I want to invest with the financially strongest companies. Looking forward to your future articles.

  • Retirement Strategy: Cashing In On The Oil Crash [View article]
    >>>I just don't get it when it comes to oil and dividend growth investors.<<<

    marketwatcher23,

You make a good point. But the crash in oil prices should not come as a surprise to anyone that has done their homework. Oil has crashed 5 or 6 times since the early 80's. The time to invest has been during these times. There have been good returns from the strongest, such as XOM. Will this time be different? Long term I don't think so. That's is why I am adding at this point. I am currently slightly under market weight in oils. I will bring it up in-line or a little above. I won't go crazy with it. But I agree with RS in thinking it is a good time to add.

  • Baxalta: A Rare Undervalued Biopharmaceutical Company [View article]
Well what do you all think of the offer from Shire?
I was thinking that it might not be enough and that BXLT would reject it.
Maybe we will see a higher bid?
In the meantime I plan on looking at Shire just in case it goes through.
    Long BXLT.

  • The Most Undervalued And Overvalued Dividend Champions - August '15 [View article]
    PTI,

I like your "PAAY" process. It is one of the criteria I use when investing accumulated dividends and contributions.

I have recently made additional investments in EMR, DOV, and XOM (and CMI, although it's not a champion).

It's one more metric that can point you toward value especially when used in regard to high quality companies.

  • Dividend Champions For August 2015 [View article]
    >>>I see BAX and BXLT more of growth stocks than dividend stocks.<<<

    TBDI,

What do you think of the buyout offer from Shire at $45 (36% premium)?

My 1st thought was WOW that was fast.

My second thought was that the offer is not enough.

Not surprised BXLT has now rejected the first offer. This will be interesting to watch. Will have to do some research on Shire.

You all gonna wish you had kept BAX (and spin off BXLT) when they rejoin the list in 5 years. Ha! (at least I hope so, cause I am holding on).

    David,
Thanks again for your excellent work. I added CMI to my portfolio last week and am glad to see it promoted. I continue to use your lists weekly in making decisions about additions to my portfolio. If fact no better way to spend time after midnight on a Saturday night.

    Dividend Dreams,

I am with you on this one. Invested for the first time in CMI on July 17 at $128.88.

Your article summarizes very well the reasons for investing in this high quality dividend growth company. I think we will be happy with this one over the next 10-20 years or more. Anyone interested in CMI should visit the company website to learn about their impressive line of products and services. CMI is a high tec industrial.

    chopchop0

In 1998 KO's valuation was in the range of 40-45 pe ratio. 1998, not a good time to invest in KO. For those investing at around 16-18 pe, returns have been much better.

    Uncle Pie,

I like your NVO pick above. I have watched it occasionally over the past 5 years or so. It seems it is always at a premium valuation. In hindsight it would have been a good addition to my portfolio. At what valuation do you consider reasonable going forward?
