  • Google Vs. Apple: Spring Of Hope, Winter Of Despair [View article]
When I read a title like this I'm inclined to short GOOG and long AAPL, so I did. Just bought some January 2014 $910 Puts on GOOG and added to my AAPL long.

It's amazing how the water cooler talk usually precedes major market changes. Remember just a few years ago when everyone was talking about how much their house appraisals were rising?

  • Danger Zone For This Week: Apple [View article]
yeah after AAPL launched the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad all in the same year, they really have lost touch. Oh wait, they launched them over a 10 year period, and then everyone and their brother copied their ideas.

Be greedy when idiots write articles like this on SA. Today is a good day to pick up shares.

Long AAPL as an investor not a trader.

dude stop. as soon as I see your name I could write the article for you. it's all anti-AAPL and pro INTC and MSFT. do you also listen to a 90's radio station also? you seem stuck there.

  • Chasing Smartphone Market Share Is A Chump's Game; Why Apple Will Win [View article]
Very well done - thanks. Part of me doesn't want anyone to read these logical articles because I keep buying 10 shares of AAPL every time I get another $4500 in the account. Trying to really ramp up a long term investment here.

One serious note however, Samsung is a real competitor and I've seen a few objective polls saying that people who pay top dollar for smartphones prefer the larger screen. If AAPL keeps their head in the sand about how there's is the perfect size, these numbers will continue to skew and they could realistically blow it. I trust that clear minds understand this in Cupertino and that they just aren't letting the media know about their plans.

  • How Apple Let Its Shareholders Down [View article]
nice theory with supporting arguments. of course it's all hindsight with your alternate universe.

i agree that foreign cash is becoming a monster but if i were running aapl and decided to pay 35% repatriating tax vs. borrowing for <1% to buy back shares, I'd have fired myself and walked myself out the door.

when interest rates start rising and if any new congress decides to lower that draconian rate, things will change. but I bet their foriegn cash will hit $150b before those happen.

  • The Risky Truth About Apple's Dividend [View article]
it's a taxable transaction for an American company to bring in or use cash from outside the States. no sneaky ways around it that I know of.

  • The Risky Truth About Apple's Dividend [View article]
there are a lot of other things I worry about more with my portfolio than this.

but eventually they will need to make a decision about their increasing stockpiles of cash outside the US.

  • Why Is Apple Issuing Debt For Share Repurchases? [View article]
when you re-patriate cash back into the US, Uncle Sam takes a fat bite out of it (I believe 35%). The duration of its stay abroad has no effect on the tax rate.

if companies could do your idea, they'd all do it. it's not a valid option unfortunately.

i believe the cash will accumulate there for many many years until a more business friendly congress sees that the current policy is having this ill effect on domestic investment. not that it stops domestic investment but it certainly isn't helping.

that I agree with also. surprised the China Mobile deal still hasn't been announced. I'm guessing maybe AAPL is still designing their less expensive phone for them. Or they'll announce the deal this fall when they launch their next toy. Either way, this is a fantastic entry point if you don't own AAPL

  • Apple Investors Are Missing The Big Picture [View article]
if it makes you feel any better, the timing of new product launches really does affect profits by quarter. Samsung may win again next quarter but if AAPL does what it usually does every few years and rocks the world with a new product, they'll be back in the saddle again.

I liked your article. Well done.

But Point 4 I disagree with. As Hannibal Lector says in The Silence of the Lambs "We covet what we see every day".

The marketing power of the stores cannot be overstated. I like his plan to build.

  • Apple Investors Are Missing The Big Picture [View article]
i think most of the people disappointed are traders and not investors. investors are buying and/or holding AAPL now and will reap the rewards for their vision.

i have never seen a stock treated so poorly for making so much god damn real GAAP money. wow. People love AMZN and CRM and hate AAPL. I must be taking crazy pills.

  • Apple: How To Admit You're Out Of Ideas [View article]
Like a bad barbeque, this article is covered with WEAK SAUCE. Warren Buffet said several times he would buy his own shares whenever they approached a figure that seemed like a great investment.

But I guess your thinking that since they invented the iPod, iPhone and iPad all in one quarter that they should've matched that this quarter? Oh wait, those 3 world changing items were developed over a 10 year period.

    LAME!!!

  • Apple: Massive Buyback Powers Shares After Hours [View article]
i'd do what Cook is doing: borrowing at next to nothing to remove as much of the float as possible. keep raising the dividend year after year to keep it around 3% and do not be swayed by the media or Wall Street.

at this rate of generating cash flow, they couldn't make better use of their cash than to buy shares until the stock trades at at least the same P/E as the broader market

MSF - this is not twitter. say something intelligent or just don't type please.
