  • Wal-Mart's Troubles Augur Ill For U.S. Economy [View article]
I'm finding the same thing at Home Depot , this is not unique to WalMart. Lots of inventory of the items that are not popular and empty shelf where the hot items are supposed to be. When I asked a guy who I thought was employed there by the looks of his apron, "Do you work here?" He replied "Nobody works here". I think we are seeing some trends that will be reflected in their bottom lines.

This is just another case of a fantastically managed organization doing the right thing. Those that question hthe great payout to the founders of this company (and others like it) probably have never risked their own capital in opening, running and sharing the rewards of major risk. Up Capitalism!!!

  • Schlumberger (SLB) purchases a 20% stake in Hong Kong-listed Anton Oilfield Services as it seeks to enter China’s nascent but potentially game-changing shale gas industry. Barclays calls the deal a “significant development” in China’s shale industry, as SLB’s expertise will allow the Chinese government to reach its production targets to tap its huge shale resources.  [View news story]
It makes sense for SLB to enter this market since we are not permitting extensive shale industry capitalization, after all they are still in the business of profits..
