  • Tens of thousand of people marched in Madrid and Lisbon yesterday to protest austerity measures in Spain and Portugal, where demonstrations were held in 40 cities altogether. The 65,000-strong protest in Madrid followed a rally of over a 1M in Barcelona four days earlier and after the government said on Friday that further austerity measures were imminent.  [View news story]
People must understand that in Europe there's lack of democracy. Europe is governed by non-elected people having frightened everybody to keep quiet the crowd. Someody wrote: Union of the socialist republics of europe; that's it.

  • Why Italy  [View article]
    Unfortunately I'm from Italy.
Prime minister Monti is like others politician. He just levered up tax burden, slashed poor people pensions and din't touch privileges (yes I use the word privilege 'cause it's just that we talk about).
You foreigners don't even imagine what's going on in Italy with public sector's huge and disgusting waste of money.
Italy will be the next greece. It's sure. It's just a matter of time.

  • Madrid leads the way lower in Europe, -3.1%. Given that, what would you think is happening to Spanish bond yields? Correlation fans will be disappointed, as the 10-year is off 8 bps to 5.80%. The utility sector is the big loser, led by Iberdola (IBDRY.PK), -7.3% after a struggling construction firm is forced to unload a big stake in the company.   [View news story]
I think that ECB bought strongly Spanish bonds all the day long 'cause the going is getting worse and worse.
