About 4 years ago I leased an apartment in Conshohocken PA to an impressive young president of Cotman and/or Am o Transmission Cos. Research led me to American Capital, the owner, in which I invested and have quite pleased with the results. The young president has since gone on to other opportunities but left me with my shares which he did not know I had purchased.

Effect of Zombie Portfolio on LTE Royalties?
The Interdigital case against Nokia is pending further ruling from an appeal. Arguments were presented several weeks ago (mid January, 2011). This dispute is based on the same standard documents/ agreement under which Interdigital collects income from other mobile telephone manufacturers.
This is also a continuation of the same legal dispute under which Interdigital received payment from Nokia in excess of $400 million five years ago. That payment was enforced in U S federal courts indluding a judgement that Interdigital was given the right to sieze Nokia assets. Nokia has since refused to pay at all in spite of the continuing contractural relationship between the two companies. The uncollected income represents about $100 million per year or more.
This dispute has been in front of a number of courts for years. Interdigital has prevailed in cases concerning Samsung and others using the same contract documents.
There is good reason to believe that Nokia will be forced to pay and become a regular paying customer. Such resolution should be forthcoming within months.
