Digital Realty upgraded to Buy from Hold at MLV Equity
Brad,
Were you going to start an advisory newsletter or something like that?
You are one of the VERY few people I actually listen to, and believe is honest and does his own research. I would love to hear more from you in a venue where you get paid more than per page click or however you get paid by S.A. It can't be much, considering the quality of many of the articles and authors.

If, in a year after price fluctuations, PSEC trades at the same price as today, with that dividend, I will be more than happy. If I want capital gains I will buy LNKD:)

VeroMike,
EXACTLY. I did the same thing with FCX, also with CLF. Buy low, sell high. Why is that so hard? Everyone chases the overvalued stocks that have "momentum" and then when the floor is pulled, they ask WHY??

Ed, The SEC really doesn't care. They ignore much worse manipulation all the time.
It just proves the point that you need to do your own research, and when buying opportunities are created for whatever reason, you step up and increase your retirement income@

Meltdown, Totally agree. My 65 April puts expired, to that's some more money in the bank. Seems to work almost every month. We'll see how far it dips after earnings.

A spade has been called a spade for many years now, but a sucker is born every minute, new investors love his enthusiasm, and his ego obviously demands the publicity and "adoration" he gets from the show.
His ratings are not good, and I guess he is fun entertainment, but anyone who consistently has followed his picks could be in trouble.
I will have to give him props on a call he made when MO was $24. Just caught it in passing, bought it, and of course the rest is history:)

The "Canada" option is really the biggest overhang for MLP's since it was a devastating blow to holders in Canada.
Knowing how Washington is impotent even with the most uncontroversial issues, I expect any serious talk of changing the tax status would be killed by many lobbies, including AARP, before it had a chance to get too far.
You can never say never however, but in the meantime they are a terrific source of income for seniors and other income oriented investors, but the pay back does come when you sell. Hopefully you will be in a lower tax bracket at that point.

Another excellent one Brad! No doubt "O" will fluctuate in price over time, but it has always been valued highly, and probably always will be as long a management remains as shareholder friendly and as good at their job as they are.
When I bought it a few years ago, I was reluctant to step in at the "high" price; today it still has a "high" price, but I am up 44%, and never have to monitor the company or the position. The monthly dividend captures market volatility much better than a quarterly dividend as well.
Thanks for all your ideas; you are developing quite a following!

"I don't see who is served by hiding one's head in the sand. "
Well, I don't see who is served by ignoring the rise in the stock on an otherwise devastating market day. Someone is buying despite the "horrible state of this fraud", and as long as they are buying, I am served by my options paying the bills.

Tom is correct, and that is a very important consideration. While you don't pay tax on the distribution, instead it increases your cost basis on your original investment when you sell.
Depending on whether you want to pay tax on a "dividend" or defer to capital gains later in life, is an individual decision. Further, once the cost basis reaches "zero", additional tax considerations come into play.
Do NOT invest in MLP's unless you fully understand them. I own several, and they can be wonderful, but to suddenly be hit with an unexpected tax bill late in life can be a misery and it's not likely taxes are going down any time soon. Your income might, however:)
Reading articles on S.A. or other web sites are hit and miss. If you are going to buy ONE, that's fine, but if they are going to become more than 5% of a portfolio, it would be worth the money to sit with a CPA or financial advisor for an hour.

I am always perplexed by that ownership issue. If the author owns the stock, he/she is pumping or a shill. If he/she doesn't own it, then why write about it?
Seems to be a no win situation, but I don't know that you can discount the author of any article simply because they do or do not own a stock.

After Stavros's comments, I researched the author further. Interesting to read the comments from Luke Daniell on the author's recent article on STP. http://seekingalpha.co...

I think that says enough about the wisdom of your investment decisions. Would you suggest a short position in YUM and a long position in GLD?
