  • Boardwalk Blows Up - $3 Billion Of Market Value Evaporates In One Day [View article]
"And there are other ways to get exposure to undervalued energy stocks, and sometimes even get rapid growth thrown in "for free."
And if you're looking for yield, you might find this one interesting: "

Any suggestions other than involvement in a penny stock?

  • Lowe's Prospects Are Dimming [View article]
I think many are discounting the amount of home damage has been done during these terrible storms around the country. Homes will need to be repaired, and it seems just logical that LOW and HD will benefit.

  • Long Target? Read This Before You Sell [View article]
I expect the financial cost of the breach will be absorbed, at least in part, by insurance, since TGT management and Board are not morons, and surely have coverage for catastrophe's like this.

I would also just throw out the following idea: what better quarter to throw in the entire "kitchen sink", and since everyone is expecting a disaster anyway it is likely priced in. I wouldn't be surprised to see it rally after earnings.

Just collect the premium and repeat each month until you get it at your price.

  • Potash: Brighter Days Ahead [View article]

It seems VERY few investors understand what "long term" means anymore. I bought low, and if it goes lower, I am reinvesting more shares, and plan to do so for a very long time. I suspect before I am selling POT, it will be higher than it is today.

if you are an options trader, VALE is a gold mine. pretty high premiums for selling puts on massive selloffs like last week, and a great dividend if you are temporarily assigned.

  • Vale SA: Strengthening Asia And Peeping Into The U.S. [View article]
You mention that VALE is not allowed to dock in China due to the country's ban over entry of overseas cargo vessels carrying volume of more than 300,000 metric tons.

Isn't is true that on October 31, 2013, it signed a cooperation agreement worth $500 million with the Chinese company Shandong Shipping Corp. Under this deal, Shandong will operate Vale's four Valemax Vessels, through which Vale can deliver its iron ore directly to Chinese ports? Doesn't that solve their problem until they can dock directly in October?

  • Will 'Safer' Cigarettes Save Big Tobacco Stocks? [View article]
My cost basis on MO is $24., and despite the fact that I do not support smoking, even getting sick at the smell, I am in the market to make money. MO is extremely shareholder friendly, and also well diversified, continue buybacks, and raising their dividend.

They have wine: Chateau Ste. Michelle wineries.
They have brewers: a 27% interest in SAB Miller.
They have cigars and smokeless in UST.

As long as they continue buybacks and keep an extraordinary dividend, I am happy. They have something like $4 Billion in cash, which allows for additional acquisitions. Again, it's about my money, not my health.

I bought BAC at $7, knowing how many people they were hurting, defrauding, and displacing from their homes without good cause. So be it. By not buying the stock, what difference would that make, other than the fact that I would not profit.

I own PEP which produces probably NOTHING or very little that is healthy, and their products have a big hand in creating our culture of obesity. Sorry, no one forces people to eat and drink their products.

I do a large amount of volunteer work, mostly with seniors, and am able to do that because I have the dividends and capital gains from companies whose actions and products I find abhorrent. For me it's about business, not a social commentary.

  • The Short Story Of Intercept Pharmaceuticals (Part I): A Conference Call With Expert Physicians [View article]
"Options just became available on January 10, 2013, and have no liquidity, and spreads are over $18.00 per contract!"

That is SOO not true. I traded them yesterday, at .50 increments, and there were almost 500 options traded at my strike.

I would caution that trading options in ICPT is only for the brave and the experienced options trader. They can swallow you whole and spit out pieces in a few hours.

  • Omega Healthcare Investors: The 'Realty Income' Of The Senior Care Market [View article]

I can beat you by almost a dollar, lol

Bought 4/18/11 @ 22.22. Been a lot of ups and downs, but been reinvesting and enjoying the ride ever since.

Buying at the bottom is nearly impossible, but buying when a reit has risen 30% in a year is silly. My yield on cost makes me smile whether the share price is up or down. I am now starting to look at some of the wreckage of the past 8 months for new positions.
