  • Offshore Drilling Isn't the Answer - Supply and Demand Is [View article]
If your looking for 'Short Term' solutions, then yes the quickest way to curb oil prices is to curb demand. Unfortunately it is 'Short Term' thinking that got us here in the first place. If you want to talk about supply and demand, you must realize that the demand for oil will continue to increase, and without new regions to tap then the future supply will decrease.
If we want oil to truly drop then not only must we conserve, but we must also discover and develop new supply. That means Offshore drilling, and opening Anwar. The Future's market in oil would drop substantially knowing that oil supplies once off limits could now be tapped, even though they would not be available for up to ten years.

  • Subprime Mortgage Losses: Not as Bad as Advertised  [View article]
As a refi-er myself this past month, I was able to move from a 3 year ARM at 6% that would have reset to over 8% to a fixed rate at 5.75%, thus lowering my payments.

Of course my original loan was not considered subprime, but it is an example of how a 2006 vintage loan could be paid off and moved to the next year, but at safer margins for the borrower.

I also think it is important that alot of the default cascade was started by second home purchases in Arizona, Nevada, California and Florida as investment vehicles. I would assume that most of that has already washed out of the system by now.

  • Crystallex Flounders as Circumstances Worsen  [View article]
    Bane,
You are correct. My Tradewinds comment was not correct. The information was brought to my attention last week, with the 13F mentioned. It was early and my mind not quite clear. But I feel much better now.
I do not write op-eds on Crystallex anymore. As you see, the stock really makes fools out of the people who write about it.
Crystallex made a nice comeback with the rest of the gold markets today, so maybe the market's downturn has affected Crystallex more than Crystallex' issues themselves for investors.
I just wonder why you waste your time on such a dead in the water stock? The answer for me is simple. Massive Gold reserves in a world of dwindling major Gold discoveries, but my patience is wearing thin. Confused, no, but becoming more cautious every day.

  • Crystallex Flounders as Circumstances Worsen  [View article]
I can't believe Seekingalpha is allowing this personal vendetta to go on. We get it Bane. You don't like Crystallex. Crystallex' performance since May has been absolutely atrocious, no doubt. So has the whole market. We all agree the permit delay is starting to get old, and there has to be more going on that can be said or is being said, but article after article has the whole VZ mining community complaining how the Ministry of the Environment has everything paralyzed.
That still hasn't stopped companies like Tradewinds from scooping up 15 million shares on the cheap the past week, as well as a large chunk of GRZ shares.
Since you get a kick out of beating up down companies, why don't you go write something on Birch Mountain. You'll be absolutely giddy once you see their finances, Bane.
I am sure Seekingalpha only allows this to go on due to the fact that these types of articles only incite others to respond (see this post).

By the way, "Bullocks"? Who else besides the British use the word "Bullocks"? Nothing against the British, but I do find it interesting.

  • Crystallex’s Las Cristinas Contract in Doubt [View article]
Bob K., I am sure you are referencing me and let me poitn out that when speaking of Nationalization and the lack of need for a constitutional referendum, Chavez used CANTV and AES as an example. If you remember, VZ bought out those companies at what most would consider a fair price.
I have stated before here and will state again, that the mining industry is not the oil industry. Just look at production and profit margins. I, at this point give VZ gvt officials the forsight to see this difference. That does not mean that officials quoted or referenced by Bane have that same forsight. There are true Communists in Chavez's ministry. But we all know, and I hope Chavez knows as well, that true Communism is not economical, or beneficial for the country.

  • Crystallex’s Las Cristinas Contract in Doubt [View article]
According to my sources, Canadian officials have assured that through the Bi-lateral trade agreement with VZ that contracts like Crystallex will be honored.

Also, in the two articles the only negative spin on Sidor or Crystallex was imposed by the authors of the articles and not Chavez himself. When mentioning Sidor, Chavez said that talks with Sidor were commencing at a good pace. And as for Crystallex, the government is working with them, and as for mining, he said there is no need for nationalization.

Chavez did say that there was no need for constitutional change as the gvt already has tools in place such as the ones used to Nationalize the power and CANTV. But remember, VZ also paid for that Nationalization. It was not a confiscation.

Not that I am keeping score, but the day after each article from Bane is usually a nice up day. Currently pre-market has looked pretty robust. Let's make it 4 out of 4, shall we?

  • Crystallex’s Speculative Shine Begins to Tarnish [View article]
Wow, three pages of material just to 'Tarnish' a companies image. That looks like it took a lot of time and work to put together.
As noted in the first two comments the only point in this blog is to hurt KRY SP. Which brings one to wonder what Bane's real motives are, to go to such lenghts.
It is no secret that The Tomi and La Victoria mines are being played out.
It's regretable that Bane is still using Sergio Rofriguez as a source, since Rodriguez was oblivious to Crystallex's cyanide destruction plan, as he was quoted as saying they had none.
Crystallex's finances are bad, but are exxagerated a bit due to the purchasing of pretty much all the ming equipment. In the long run this should save Crystallex, but for now does seem a bit like puting the cart before the horse.
Still Crystallex is about one thing right now, and that is the Permit.
