Does anyone know why OGZPY.PK has dropped like a rock recently? Looking back it is particularly weak in April-May but still, it has fallen quite a lot recently...

  • Monday, March 25, 2013 - Long Some Gold [View instapost]
That's an interesting pair trade you have going, Bill. GLD is too expensive for me. I've been trading in and out of $HMY (while keeping a portion as a long position). Please keep us posted on your GLD trade, if you decide to add/exit, etc. Good to see your blog again!

Fredrik, are you really long $AT? Wasn't the most recent sharp sell-off quite disconcerting and indicates investors' lack of confidence in the management?

Eric, could you please comment on the recent sharp correction in gold miners either in your next piece or here in the comments section? Is the sector fairly valued, undervalued, more selling to come, etc.?

Emmet - very good article! I was trying to find information about the previous sell-offs in gold miners. Do you know why there was a sell-off in 2005? Does each sell-off (2005 vs. 2008 vs. now) have a different "reason"? The rebound in 2005 was pretty impressive. In fact, there's always a rebound of some kind after an intense sell-off (if for technical reasons only).

Alex, thanks for the update. So, your take on gold is that it's a temporary correction then? I'm also wondering about gold miners, is the recent sell-off a buying opportunity, you think?

Dave, thank you for the article -- the sentiment readings are very interesting! Actually, the CME group has this report on gold on their website and the demand projections for 2013 seem decent. Here's the link and if you have any comments about this report I'd be interested in your impressions.

Tim -- thanks for the update... PM are oversold and next week will be interesting as the sequestration issues come to the forefront. I'm betting we'll see a rebound, even if partially driven by oversold levels.

  • Amarin's Time Is Soon [View article]
NQP - thanks, I see your point. But still, some drugs are more clearly "drugs" than others...An antibiotic isn't an adjunct to diet, it is treatment that can be discontinued once the problem is resolved, etc. etc. I guess my point is that Vascepa might be too hyped...and it is what it is - a dietary supplement that doesn't treat a condition. Hence, Amarin's problems with insurance coverage...
