LT: Thanks for the link. While you are right that most of us here may know the history, the article succinctly traced the arc of the Eurozone (and its pending demise) and it was well worth the refresher.

Nice article. I liked your profile. My brother and sister-in-law both were sports writers. She still works for the NYT, but my brother left sports journalism after 30 years. He now works for an environmental/climate org. Like you, they have no debt or mortgage. I wish i had followed him, and you, down that path. But have learned that a dividend portolio is the mature way to consistent growth. Good luck.

PH: Thanks for the article. The inside info on why/how the special dividend is being paid helps assuage any doubts I may have about holding SDRL for the long haul.
JS: I agree with you - we could use less attorneys. I love it when there is less competition. As an aside, recently read your profile and think we have similar backgrounds and interests. I attended The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy; and ever since I realized that Ulan Bator is an oft used crossword puzzle question/answer, I have been interested in Mongolia. Your recent travels there must be fascinating.
I surmise than that you were in STTYF earlier, but got out. The long term trend over the last year is clearly, albeit gradually, down. This looks like a VERY long term hold; wondering what time frame you would consider it to be for.
TB: Was wondering if you like SNDXF over SDXXF, or vice versa, and what is/are the relative merits of one over the other? Also, do you also follow and/or invest in STTYF, Sandstorm's streaming model for metal's and energy?

PH: Thanks for your continued coverage of SDRL. Have a small position in it, which I hold, and continue to try and trade in/out of options; your coverage is a great help. Have a great weekend. GG

i like idea of picking up SDRL at 33. i got out on thursday at 36.47 becuase it looked like it was still on its way down from its top at 42. But as yesterday showed, i was wrong, and it still is on a leg up. Bummer
Mercy: Apologize for starting chat thought and then disappearing, but unlike those of you fortunate enough to trade full time, I am a simple schlep who has to grind out a living elsewhere; thus, the late response. I will confess - I have not done a detailed analysis of DSSPF vis-a-vis other rig service companies (as opposed to land based oil services companies). What attracted me to it is that it appears to be another Frederison entity and operated along the same lines as SDRL - i.e., buy top of the line, leading edge Anchor Handling Tugs and Platform Supply Vessels and contract out. Imagine (but cannot confirm) that a majority of SDRL rigs are serviced by DSSPF; thus, as goes one so goes the other. BUT ... as you indicated, there may be games afoot in SDRL and NATF. Ergo, is money better allocated elsewhere? Maybe, but there 4Q report shows that they are almost fully leased/chartered for a long time to come. Anyway, just a passing fancy. Will keep you posted as ideas rattle through my cobwebs.
