  • Nvidia: The Bull Case Becomes Clearer And Stronger, Shares Still Have 40% Upside [View article]
@this_chain - everyone should do their own diligence. G'luck. Q/Q, Y/Y computer gaming is on the rise. Its harder to build a gpu than you guys think and intel is very behind amd and nvidia. They do not have the talent.

Intel is just going to magically dominate cell phones because of fab and cpu superiority? the cpu is the least interesting part: isp, video playback, gpu, etc. Intel is just now trying to assemble these pieces. I question their commitment because the money isn't there.

Nvidia had the best arm chip for awhile and that led to what sales? They are just now starting to see payoff from the investment this article discusses

amd does incremental change, nvidia does major redesigns. Sure another nv30 could be released... but when the belt needed to be tightened who was hiring? and who's management pillaged the coffers.

At the onset of this recession who snatched up cheap talent and again who was laying off employees? These things take years to be felt and its just now starting to come around.

-long nvidia with a 2-3 year horizon

Rav55 - because no one agrees to support anything forever. You do understand how licenses and contracts work right?

Additionally PCI is not only used for discrete GPU's... Do you work in the tech field? I truly hope no one reads your posts and invests off of them.

Everyone I know who works w/ adobe products and Maya uses a discrete GPU. But I mean what do my friends and colleagues know they only work at Pixar, Activision, Intel, Apple...

Also I never said AMD was disappearing I think it will limp on for many years. I would welcome a revival.

dwdallam, AMD won the consoles because they under bid everyone. No one else saw it worth their effort.

Additionally Intel had a chip in one console.

this is not why they won every consol... It's been fairly public knowledge for over a year, not sure why anyone is acting surprised at the xbox news or ps3

Tommyb0y, you both are very confused.

I understand and you both have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry this comment will seem rude and harsh but PCI-E isn't going anywhere. You've accidentally transfered intel dropping legacy pci (32bit.) mobo companies will still support for awhile....

Sorry but this is about as insane as "if it wasn't for my horse, i wouldn't have spent that year in college."

Pci-e is going nowhere much more than discrete GPUs use it. So you read an article about intel (who has) removed legacy PCI support... and somehow you mistakingly arrived at this tangent.

It doesn't matter as most mobo companies are adding legacy support for the time being but it needs to die anyways.

Additionally Intel has tried to build a GPU for ~ a DECADE they have had much fanfar and all been scrapped, or flops.

rav55 i'd love for you to cite some sources for your post. What are talking about, they are pushing pci-e x

p.s. Intel has tried to develop several discrete gpu's and scrapped them

WHAT are you talking about? Intel is ending legacy support. They are pushing PCI-E 3

This is the future and impacts them in no way whatsoever, other than forcing them to abandon PCI which is outdated and slow

Mobo' companies will be adding chips to support for quite some time but its time for companies to move on anyways...

ta152h, those of us who understand technology really know the issues AMD is facing. They aren't going away anytime soon (fingers crossed) but they have a very difficult road and less talented people than they did last year, and the year before, etc.

Feel free to invest but this is a high risk stock for a reason, it hasn't dropped to $>2.5 from a lack of understanding.

  • 4 Reasons To Buy AMD [View article]
I don't see a contract as impressive when they give up almost all profit to acquire (see xbox, ps3, wii.) AMD wont disappear but its chance of shrinking is much larger than growth.

Console sales don't help much in the PC realm as the cards will be a gen behind upon release.

Awenshok'09 please list your credentials. I am sure they are very lacking.

Ashraf makes logical arguments... You may disagree with his conclusions but personal attacks are ridiculous and only show your ignorance.

I await a logical rebuff. So far you've posted nothing of value.

Awenshok'09 it appears you are the one who knows little. You don't know how easy it is to get a license. You also apparently don't know that they are simply salesmen (who 99% of the time know little.) Also a journalist has little aplicable skills in regards to financial reporting so I fail to see why you mention this. You are easily seen as the uneducated one bashing someone with points that are hilarious to anyone who has actually traded securities at a large investment house, or managed.

Ashraf's qualifications are easily available in his profile and he hides absolutely nothing. He is just starting his career and offers his opinions for the public to see.

What are your qualifications to bash him? Why should we take your opinion? From your post I can see you have little in the way of qualification.
