  • Malibu Boats: An Opportunity To Ride The U.S. Consumer Wave [View article]
Agreed. A 1996 lt-1 Prostar is just as good as any new slalom boat. I would say that my friends and myself all could buy new boats but none of us would want to. It is very liberating to have a boat you paid cash for and really don't care if a seam splits in the vinyl or you get some dock rash. We fill them with gas, skis, boards and go have fun. The boat is just a tool to pull you through the slalom course or make a wave to board or surf. I have my old super comp for slalom and a supra pirata for wakeboarding and surfing, both on trailers cost less than a down payment on a new boat hahaha, leaves me with a heck of a gas budget!

  • "I can’t imagine a computer without touch anymore," says new Windows product chief Julie Larson-Green, reaffirming in an interview Microsoft's (MSFT) commitment to a joint PC/tablet OS remains following Steven Sinofsky's departure. By contrast, Tim Cook asserts iOS and Mac OS will remain separate, and has compared Windows 8/RT to fusing a refrigerator with a toaster. Barclays slashed its Microsoft estimates yesterday due to the lukewarm initial response to Windows 8 and poor Surface sales, though it sees Windows revenue falling at a slower pace than PC sales. [View news story]
I don't like touch at all. My girlfriend routinely abandons her ipad for my 6 year old laptop. While some people like it, others not so much.

  • CNNMoney's David Goldman talked with 10 Verizon (VZ, VOD) sales reps, and found all of them recommending he buy a 4G LTE Android model instead of an iPhone. Others report similar experiences. Verizon probably isn't motivated by hostility towards Apple (AAPL), but by an interest in offloading its surging mobile data traffic onto its high-capacity LTE network. It recently mentioned all of its future smartphone releases will support LTE.  [View news story]
I was at my Verizon store this morning, 1 salesman selling Iphone, 1 salesman selling Ipad. Both were old people fwiw.

  • A company representing Proview's creditors is planning to sue Apple (AAPL) for $2B in the U.S. over the iPad trademark. At a Beijing press conference, Li Su - chairman of the creditor group - says it's in the process of choosing representation from among 3 U.S. law firms.  [View news story]
I remember reading last year that there were plans to move manufacturing of the Ipad to Brazil.

    What happened to that deal?

  • Apple Among The Top Stocks To Own In 2012 [View article]
Hey Rocco, If you are not opposed to complicating your trades a little more you could be opening and closing covered calls against your feb appl options as the price bounces around. I sto jan415 against my feb405 the other day and will probably btc tomorrow if appl is down again and look to sto again when appl gets around 410 again. It helps to take advantage of this volitility.

Just an idea, but I totally understand if you are trying to keep the "study" a little more structured.

  • Extreme Volatility, Extreme Returns: A 70% Annual Return Writing Covered Calls [View article]
I was writing cash covered puts on Citi when it was bouncing between 25 and 27. I didn't feel comfortable when it got around 30 so I switched to upro and spxu. Its nice writing options because time is on your side for once.

  • $10,000 Portfolio Update: On The Merits Of Simulated Trading [View article]
P.S. To keep it on the real. Early spring I turned $20,000 into $40.000 in less than 4 weeks trading aapl options. Unfortunately it gave me a false sense of thinking I could repeat it again, I gave it all back the next month with the debacle in Japan. In hindsight I should have treated it like winning the lottery and been more conservative after what I now know was luck and not skill.

    Another good one.

I was just thinking yesterday that I need to start a virtual account to test some spreads on spxu and upro. Seems with the decay and rebalancing that these stay somewhat rangebound by nature, could be a good idea, could be a bad one, but at least with virtual I can get an idea without losing money.

Nice one. Some people will not understand it because their personality is not one to fall into the trap.

I have learned that my positive outlook/nature is bad for buying call options. I know that when it goes against me I should bail before time decay causes a larger loss but I get sucked into thinking it could turn around any moment and get me back in the green. So I have learned that I am better off selling puts where time decay is on my side.

Point is that your little articles should help some people by bringing a weakness to their attention thus improving their personal trading strategy.
