I would have never imagined that BlackBerry would destroy itself in this manner. This is completely insane on the part of BB upper mgmt. No Canadian pride, no nothing!

  • A leaked image appears to provide full specs for the BlackBerry A10 (BBRY -1.8%): the image indicates the A10 will sport Qualcomm's (QCOM) dual-core MSM8960 processor (same as the Z10), a 5" 720p display (many high-end Android phones now have 1080p displays), 16GB of storage, and an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. BGR provided a few details about the A10 last week, while adding it's the only completely new BB10 phone set to launch in the remainder of 2013. [View news story]
    That's funny...
I told BB 7 OS internal devel(as a beta tester) OVER TWO YEARS AGO to include a mid to high end camera core into future Curve devices in order to retain and possibly gain the non business core users. Sometimes I think those surveys were being auto deleted with no critical review...No efn feedback..
Now, here we are fighting against Nokia...
    Nokia..Nokia!?
    Are u f@#$ing kidding me!?

I am glad not to be employee of that company formerly known as RIM.

  • AT&T and Best Buy have slashed the BlackBerry Z10's (BBRY -1.1%) subsidized price to $49 amidst weak U.S. sales, and Verizon has cut its price to $99. News of the price cuts comes shortly after the WSJ reported BlackBerry recently fired its U.S. sales chief, and Thorsten Heins put the blame for the Z10's soft U.S. launch on poor sales/marketing efforts and training. [View news story]
I can only imagine that tv time in US cable and OTA channels are pricey to say the least but how about radio, AM/FM?

AM station 1310 / FM 104.1(The Ticket) is constantly blaring Android and Apple based adverts but no BlackBerry. Thorsten, does your organization realize that 1310 The Ticket in Dallas Ft. Worth is the number 1 sports talk show in the Dallas Ft.Worth metroplex ( not to mention online listeners globally)? The target demographic is 25 to 54 years old!!! They are the recipient of the coveted Marconi Award!

As I mentioned before, I live in the Dallas area and BBRY commercials on the z10 were non existent except for the Superbowl clips...

Unlike in 2010/2011 where Verizon Bold and Tour commercials appeared periodically on TV, I have only recently( that is within the last two weeks) seen z10 commercials on a semi regular basis. Aside from that, the real estate for BlackBerry at places like Bestbuy is marginal at best. Samsung and Apple devices hog all of the display area.
Carrier and Bestbuy employees generally have no clue on how to exhibit the power, value and functionality of the new QNX core devices for lack of training, hardware, associated accessories and documentation...

  • Blackberry (BBRY) fired U.S. VP of Sales Richard Piasentin last month following the poor take-up of the company's new devices in the country. As part of its restructuring, Blackberry reportedly intends to axe more middle management in sales and support, adding to 5,000 layoffs in the last FY. [View news story]
Okay okay, Walmart and Target are a bit overkill ;). I do however agree on your other points.

It is incompetence in middle mgmt that has made BBRY what it is today. I always wondered why there where no BlackBerry kiosks at places like Walmart, Bestbuy, Target or carrier stores. I figured it was the formentioned companies who were flat out refusing any and all BlackBerry promos and adverts.
If it is really true that Marketing in USA failed due to incompetence by one or more a, b or c level marketing execs, those individuals should be tried in court for willfully sabotaging BBRY overall presence in the US.
