  • Google Advances in Latest Search Data [View article]
Google results demonstrate a level of execution rarely seen. When you couple the tremendous database buildup with their web applications, the "sapper" strategy is nearly flawless. The Yahoo development is exactly what Google was planning as it ties up MSFT cash and resources.

  • Is Google the Next AOL? [View article]
Sorry Chris, but I have to agree with the sentiment of the previous posts. Drawing imaginary parallels between AOL and Google is contrived at best, downright suspicious at worst. Google is strategically planning along time horizons unheard of before in the industry.

  • Aggregators Are Key To Online Survival For Newspapers [View article]
Scott, I appreciate your taking this truly substantive issue regarding the fate of traditional news. Unfortunately, its not as simple as "old media" getting with the "new media" plan. The issue is about how to collect news, the actual content, when the traditional revenue model is wrecked by aggregators. The statistics reported by the Project for Excellence in Journalism document this fact. Thus it is not just where the traffic goes, but who gets the revenue. If the news collecting organizations do not get sufficient revenue then the news doesn't get reported. The other problem is that more online outlets for news are reporting the same (NY Times) news story and collecting revenue for paraphrasing rather reporting. Check some citations at:

  • Differentiating Between Stocks and the Stock Market  [View article]
Thanks for your thoughtful discussion David. Your review, given the markets' downturn this past week is timely. Time horizons are complicated and vary for investment type and category (including capitalization). I am especially in agreement with you regarding GOOG. However, in general, the logical side of investing yields to the emotional side when the stock market drops suddenly, and investors need a decision rule set that closely matches their financial outlook and needs.

  • Jim Cramer's Mad Money In-Depth Stock Picks, 6/1/07 [View article]
Microsoft is continuously chasing Google's growth strategy using the only method that Gates and company was good at, namely acquisitions. However, this is actually part of Mountainview's strategy to weaken the Redmond giant.
