Richard, we have disagreed in the past, namely during your bullish-on-China phase...but this is very impressive work. Great job exposing these scam artists.

Karmaswimswami, thank you. You are one of the very few posters on SA who make any sense.

I'm a little more skeptical than even you.

In my world view NASH/NAFLD is not really a disease at all, but a symptom. In the same way that obesity is not really a disease. OCA potentially offers symptomatic relief. It does not really get to the root cause of the problem, because the problem is not properly defined or addressed.

NASH/NAFLD is an "epidemic" only among those with a vested interest in making it an epidemic, namely the researchers who live off of NIH grants. Having written grants myself, and been through the process I know how ugly it really is.

NASH/NAFLD, with the exception of a very tiny group of patients with genetic disorders of fat metabolism, is:

    100% preventable

    and

    Treatable

You hit the nail right on the head. Aerobic exercise. The prevention (and treatment) of NASH/NAFLD is to reduce consumption of calories (especially carbohydrates) and increase aerobic activity. (aka lose weight)

As a practicioner, what are your thoughts on this?

As for MD Research, his bizarre claim that OCA will be bigger than Lipitor is farcical. Lipitor has been a blockbuster for one important reason.

Patients take it (many demand it), and doctors prescribe it, because they believe it will reduce cardiac events.

    It is fear driven marketing.

There is no analagous marketing pitch for OCA (or any NASH/NAFLD compound).

Of course, the best treatment to reduce cardiac events is the same as preventing (and treating) NASH/NAFLD: My patented treatment, called StopEatingLikeAHippoMAB. Pity noone makes money from telling patients the truth.

Well done! Just as reverse mergers are scams, so too are "safer cigarette/safer tobacco" cons. These morons at XXII have just been taking pages from the Star Scientific / Rock Creek (STSI/RCPI) scammer playbook.

Not every scam is a P&D...sometimes they borrow money against their stock. Other times they use the pump to do an offering to refill company bank accounts. Regardless. Paid promotion is always a sign of a scam. Wake up.

@wizerdave - Actually yes, it is always a sign of a scam. Not the only one, but a sign for sure. Real companies, with good management simply do not use paid touts. Period.

Investors that will only invest if the company engages in paid touting are just penny stock hucksters, not legitimate professional investors. Wake up!

He did. He gave you a link to the Swedish Financial Regulatory Authority report on the boiler room. CTIX is otcbb reverse merger boiler room garbage plain and simple.

Lets not forget that CTIX has been promoted by offshore boiler rooms!

    KSS,

You phrased it far better than I could. A disease of insulin resistance.

When you mentioned the PCOS patients exhibiting NASH my mind immediately jumped to metformin, widely used off-label for PCOS.

    A quick search found this:

    http://1.usa.gov/1bS0bAQ

Of 26 patients, 20 saw improvement. Nine with a 3 point or better improvement.

    And cheap too.

@Whitney - If he was such a smart guy he wouldn't be involved in a reverse merger. It really is that simple. In the same way that good guys don't end up working for the boiler rooms that push reverse mergers.

He would not be the first Harvard-annointed angel to fall from grace.

  • Cynk Technology Is The New Scheme In Town [View article]
@Night Heron, I am talking about the original broker that files the 15c-211 to get the scam stock quoted. These are typically boiler-room type operations. Not large executing brokers that normal people use to trade.

Brokers are often in on the scheme as well. Especially the ones who originally file to get the security quoted.

Often, like in SEFE, the insiders, brokers, IR firm, and execs are all part of a ring and just move from scam to scam.

These short-trap scams are not new, but are a little less common than regular run of the mill p&ds. GeneMax (GMXX) is probably the most egregious one that comes to mind, and LOTE a year or so ago was similar.
