Well they need to pick the right companies and management teams.

The problem you are addressing is one of "venture overlap". There are traditional VC shops such as yours and then their are traditional corporate VC funds. But now there are many more ways of doing venture coming from hedge funds and private equity. (I can testify to this directly) I can see your trepidation regarding an 800lb gorilla jumping in to the venture game. Good ideas and management teams are not infinite but competition is.

Other analysts are less convinced. "What the heck are they doing? It boggles the mind," said Jordan Rohan of RBC Capital Markets. "The company is blessed with the best business model on the Internet. This makes me worry about Google's priorities."

Jordan Rohan of RBC should be fired immediately for his myopic "views". Perhaps he's heard of the energy market? The market that dwarfs all other markets. Maybe not and that is why he should be immediately fired.

The development of ANY new renewable energy company that delivers and develops energy production below coal or current grid pricing will make the GOOG marcap look like pennies strewn about the floor.

All they need to do is make some investment that proves that they are reducing their own ginormous needs. Then they spin said company out and the result is truly scary -- to any Google competitor. Think ten Microsoft's or maybe Google being one of the top ten economic systems on the planet. Larger than most countries...

Sorry, but it seems fairly obvious why Mr. Rohans head is "boggled" with GOOGs latest announcement...

You say all of this as if it was a good thing. To my knowledge not one of these sites makes any money and all they do is traffic in illegal copyrighted material and camera phone videos of people farting in public....

Let me know when there is something we should know about. Perhaps their demise would be worth reporting....
