  • Dividend Aristocrat Investing In Canada [View article]
Your article would be more helpful of you made two changes:

First, include the yields of the dividend stocks mentioned
    [yields: ABX 2.3% , BNS 4%, CCJ 2%, CNQ 1.4%, CP 1.9%, ENB 1.1%, IMO, IVV 2.5%, MEOH 2.5%, RBA 2.2%, RCI 4.5%I, SJR 5.1%, SPY 1.8%, SU 1.9%, TD 3.7%, THI,1.5% TRI1.3%, TRP 4.2%, TU 4.2%, XOM 2.8% --Lloyd]

Second, Include the former Canroy oil stocks and pipelines with much higher yields than most of the stocks you list.

  • 21 Low-P/E Stocks With Market-Beating Dividends [View article]
How can anyone write an article calling stocks "market beating dividends" and fail to post the dividend yield for the stocks?

This failure makes the entire article useless.

  • Defensive Dividend Portfolio Buy Zones (Part IV: MLPs) [View article]
Your article would be more helpful if you included a comparison table of the companies: 12 month gain; p/e; yield; total return; next 5 year eps increase rate.
It is still a good selection of dividend energy stocks.

Listing high dividend stocks without listing the yield is not informative.

  • 6 Stocks With High Dividends And High Returns [View article]
Stating a stock's return in the lst 13 weeks to make your point is misleading. SCCO had been down 20%.
In the future a table showing 12 month return and total return (with dividends) would be more helpful.

    A friend commented:
Their business is telephone books and catalogs, and not much more. Probable pension liabilities and excess capacity in a severely declining industry so I would be more inclined to short than buy.

  • 4 Best Canadian REITs For 2012 [View article]
I forwarded the article to a friend who wrote back:

"I own the four listed here with the largest being Riocan and Boardwalk, in addition to others that have all been more than decent performers for me. Recent new TSX highs include Killian Properties yield 4.9% headquartered in Halifax specializing in upper end apartments; and Capital Realty yield 4.6% headquartered in Toronto specializing in strip malls anchored by supermarkets and drugstores in growing metropolitan areas. I own neither. Both are listed as buys. The only current G&M strong buy is InnVest yield 7.7% owning hotel rooms which I purchased last December 22% gain since purchase. Many do not recognize that Canadian REIT income is regarded as qualified income to American holders due to US-Canadian tax treaty."

  • Analyzing Canadian REITs, Part IV: Residential [View article]
    A friend commented:
This seems junk, or an advertisement for Brookfield. There is no mention of far superior Canadian REITS such as Riocan, Calloway, Whiterock, Boardwalk Apartments, Northern Properties and others I own up there....
