  • Battle of the Agro-Chemical Titans: Monsanto vs. Mosaic [View article]
Mosaic indeed seems like a more profitable company, it has been upgraded to BBB by S&P in April, however many see Monsanto as a healthy buy in short term as it tends to go up. Though Cramer chose DuPont over Monsanto (www.cnbc.com/id/42922224) last Thursday, MON is a large competitor in the agriculture business and as layed down by the company itself on their website, the ever-growing world will always be in need of agriculture and more of it now then ever:

"Farmers, the Monsanto website says, will have to produce more food in the next few decades than they have in the last 10,000 years combined. With finite resources, crops genetically engineered to withstand pests, to yield more and to one day prove resistant to drought will be critical to meeting global food needs, the message goes." (from: seekingalpha.com/news-...)

So, be it Monsanto or Mosaic, the agro-chemical companies will yield higher returns in coming years because land is limited and technology is needed to feed the world.

  • 9 Valuable International Brands [View article]
As mentioned above, the awful tragedies that happened in Japan seems to have affected the Japanese stocks (HMC and TM) in short term. Honda seems to have recovered pretty quickly - when looked upon the values - yes, there is a fall in prices following these events however come May, they rise again. Moreover 5 year prices show that Honda is well-off (considering the events). How about Toyota? In 2007, it saw very high prices and there was a declining trend after that until late 2009. The prices somewhat rose in 2010 and 2011 saw similar prices, however these are nowhere near the around the 2007 prices. Toyota is in downfall.

In the article below, the writer very clearly puts forward the situation of these two companies in hybrid auto market. Toyota with its Prius has been prominent in the market since 2006. If it has lost hybrid to Hyundai, which was its selling point in its price-range, it has to find something else.

  • Thoughts on the World's 10 Most Admired Companies Part 1 [View article]
I dont't think anyone can deny Apple, Google or Coca Cola (or any above) are 'admired companies'. They most certainly are, not only in America but also the world (at least they are where i live - not USA).The technology domination by Apple since the 2000s is apparent to us all and although convenient competitors arise, it still is the leader. I wonder - when Facebook goes public, with millions of people all over the world using it every day, how long will it take for it to conquer these lists?

  • Dividend Stock Picks for the Next 5 Years [View article]
I believe that this kind of system yields pretty good results overall and it can be applied to many markets. Activity of the companies is also a good sign, the Dow-10 companies would surely be active and therefore be profitable. If there isn't a huge crash in the market, playing by the active stocks almost always provides one with profitable returns; if not immediately, over time. I have hold onto some banking stocks for quite some time in the past due to wrong decisions (buying when the market/ stocks are too high) however in the end, the market rose again and i was able to make a profit (we're talking quite some time however not too long for inflation to beat the profits - about 2-3 months or so). Playing by this t-metrix would probably yield better results.

  • Microsoft: Would a Breakup Help It Reach the $1 Trillion Mark? [View article]
I have been a Microsoft user forever and Microsoft will not be unprofitable soon however it has, in my opinion, lost its leadership quite some time ago. I agree on the issue that microsoft should stick to software - some people may think that a windows phone can conquer the iphone/blackberry market in 2014 but apple is not leaving the market unattended in that arena for very long and in the end, no matter how smarter the other companies get, by well-aimed marketing and ever-increasing brand value apple will continue to be the leader in the smartphone arena for sometime. As for software: for practical reasons microsoft office will be in my list in the future but i have heard many people refraining from getting windows because of pricey software, linux might show some prominent increase in coming years as its getting easier to obtain. As for gaming, XBOX may have Kinect but Playstation has Move - it is by no means original or dominant in the market. Overall, it doesnt seem to me that Microsoft will hit $1 trillion anytime soon or reclaim its dominant position, the one it had before Apple's rise.
