    • weed: Is that an election play?

    • snmag: what if Romney wins?

    • TruffelPig: It is a hedge right now. Coal seems a good hedge. Had a big run up.
      11/5/12
    • TruffelPig: Obviously an election play.
      11/5/12
    • tashe: Jeez ! I am on the other side of the ANR part but for a long, long term as in world wide recovery.
      11/5/12
    • TruffelPig: Long-term you will be fine. ANR is having problems with EPA though.
      11/5/12
    • tashe: EPA is a problem but I am counting on exports and thinking about the new export terminals on the W coast. I think they show LT demand.
      11/5/12
    • TruffelPig: I think BTU is a better play than ANR long-term. Not a specialist though, I would buy SDRL or NATDF any given day before them.
      11/5/12
    • tashe: Correction for above: should have said "planned export terminals" above. My bad

    • joe kelly: Should Romney win he needs to shut up on the China stuff. China will buy lots of coal. From somewhere elese if we piss em off.
      11/6/12
    • joe kelly: Anti China rhetoric is good politics though. Damn Commies!
      11/6/12
    • TruffelPig: He won't win.
      11/6/12
    • wigit5: anyone else notice that ANR issued 300,000 shares of common stock to P Vining (President) on 10/8/12 is that normal in the coal sector

    • wigit5: I could be misreading the Form 4 doc but it says at a price of $0 so I'm assuming its compensation related.
      11/6/12
    • joe kelly: I agree Mitt won't win. But it's difficult to get the partisans of either side to look at facts and data that don't jibe with their views
      11/6/12
    • wigit5: Also, not sure if it will amount to much but AK Steel announced raised prices and that has been the 3rd announcement in the last 3-5 months
      11/6/12
    • wigit5: could be the start to recovery in steel prices, which would lead to a rise in met prices eventually if it holds.
      11/6/12
    • cfb5006: I would think if Obama wins tonight you will see a sell off tomorrow in the coal names.
      11/6/12
    • wigit5: Definitely, an up day today combined with an obama win I'd say 2-3% losses in coal names. But if NG keeps going up and steel stabilizes then
      11/6/12
    • wigit5: it should recover and continue upward.
