You just wrote last week that you aren't going to talk about MJNA anymore and then you publish another article the follow week? Hypocritical, much...

  • Medical Marijuana (MJNA.PK -13%) dives after SA contributor Alan Brochstein takes aim at the company's financials once more (previous). Brochstein points out $4.5M of MJNA's Q4 sales came from an installment payment related to a $35M deal with CannaVest (CANV.OB) signed at the end of the quarter, and that CannaVest can make deal payments with its (very illiquid) stock. He also observes MJNA's Q4 sales were revised to $4.69M from a prior $5.19M (and before that, $5.1M) in its recently updated annual report[View news story]
The federal government is too busy with other/more important matters then marijuana. But once they realize Colorado and Washington reaping the economic/social/health benefits of marijuana, there should be a strong push to legalize marijuana.

It's incredible to me that it hasn't been legalized yet. I find it funny that alcohol is legal and marijuana isn't. Have you ever heard of someone dying from marijuana overdose? No! They just go to taco bell which further stimulates the economy.

The fact of the matter is that marijuana isn't going anywhere, so why not invest in the market leader in the industry? Just because one person says one negative thing doesn't mean anything in the large market.

  • Medical Marijuana (MJNA.PK +41.1%) surges after issuing a shareholder update and letter to address what it calls "recent blog articles" attacking the company. MJNA provides a lengthy defense of the CannaVest (CANV.OB) deal, recently the subject of sharp criticism from SA contributor Alan Brochstein, and says it will provide details about the transaction in its Q1 filings, due to arrive by May 15. Also, chairman/COO Michelle Sides insists she hasn't sold any shares in the company. Update: Brochstein defends himself in an Instablog. [View news story]
I think that investors are worried about the federal government shutting down marijuana once and for all, but legalizing marijuana makes too much sense! It helps the economy, gives drug dealers one less option, reroutes the police to other/actual crime, and has incredible health benefits for patients suffering from terminal diseases.

  • Why Big Tobacco Must Enter $1.7 Billion Pot Industry [View article]
I can imagine big tobacco fighting marijuana until they are able to mobilize and mass-produce. MO and PM would be great to get in on a dip. However, they might be confused creating a product that doesn't kill its consumers.

Lots of money to be made.

  • Gambling revenue in Macau rose 12% Y/Y in February, topping the estimate of most analysts during the critical New Year holiday period. Increasingly, casinos operating in the region (MPEL, LVS, WYNN, MGM) have been getting a lift from the mass market segment. [View news story]
It looks like LVS has been doing well since Adelson has left the scene.

With the emergence of online gaming, I hope that LVS will be well prepared to adapt.
