  • Increasing Benefit To Retailers Will Allow Plug Power To Grow [View article]
Until PLUG shows a profit, it is merely a speculative stock on pop and drops.

  • Zillow Acquires Trulia, Creating A +$10 Billion Online Real Estate Player [View article]
$100 million in savings is an exaggeration. Last quarter, Z revs went up 26 million and earnings were 2 cents. The spend approx the same per quarter on marketing (to compete against everyone). So they spend over 100 million on marketing per year, they presume that if they cut it in half, sales will just continue along. No repeat with TRLA.

$10 billion company that will still have no idea what a profit is.

  • Update: Plug Power Short Interest At New Highs And Wal-Mart Deal Expansion [View article]
A contributor mentioned back in Feb/March when PLUG was going crazy that the Walmart contracts were basically being given out for free and no actual revenue was coming in for them except for servicing.

To me this sounds like an excuse to short/PUT PLUG once its finished running today.

Deep pockets means they could just simply buy BB out and not for the $18 that Watsa is dreaming about.

  • Tesla: 4 Reality Checks For Bulls To Consider [View article]
Releasing patents to me spells that Tesla knows it can't do it alone so is hoping to leverage IP to increase demand for its tech.

If Tesla only meets expectations, I think the stock will go lower especially since it is unclear if China will fully offset the sales drop in Europe.

If someone is willing to "bet" $7 million that Tesla will drop below $100 (ideally below $50) by year end then I would believe they know something, or have more insight than the everyday sheep heard.

I'd play OTM strangles at earnings, either even or bear bias. Cheap/lower risk and potentially high reward if it takes off or crashes.

  • BlackBerry Is Now An Obvious Buyout Target, And 4 Other Reasons Not To Worry About The Apple/IBM Deal [View article]
The fast way would be for Apple/IBM to just buy BB and keep the good parts. The slower but cheaper way would be to let BB die slowly and just buy the patents at a discount.

I mentioned that Apple already beat BB and IBM only needs to come close. Combined, BB does not have much of a future. Until Chen announces new corporate clients, I see no reason for this to go up other than reactions to EPS (assuming there are still employees to fire and assets to sell) or buyout rumours. If not or bad EPS, it'll crater again.

  • Ripple effects from the Time Warner-21st Century Fox revelation [View news story]
Murdoch will come back with a bigger offer.
I'm not sure if this would get past anti-trust regulation. If it doesn't, NFLX will skyrocket and TWX would be a good short (or for me, PUTs).

Fox would have to sell off most of TWX though (only keeping HBO) in my opinion of an offer is accepted and approved.

  • BlackBerry falls towards $10 as Street weighs in on Apple/IBM [View news story]
At this point I would buy long PUTs on $8 and long CALLs for a buyout at $13 with the expectation that Watsa will take a hit and dump his shares at the smallest loss possible.

I've said Chen offering no new customers does not impress me.

Right now I'd bank on either making a profit on BB crashing again or Apple/IBM just buying BB outright and taking the morsels and writing off the scraps.

The Passport to me looks like a tablet fail in waiting. A 4.5" screen with a limited keyboard (why not a full BB keyboard, I don't know) to view things that would be better on a larger screen.
They should have made a BB10 tablet with built in phone.

As for Apple/IBM. Apple has already beaten BB with consumers. Chen says they don't care but releasing consumer phones begs to differ. IBM doesn't need to beat BB in security/enterprise, it just needs to be close and IBM carries more corprate cachete than lame Samsung who probably won't even be in business by decades end. I don't see how BB be anything more than a takeover target if Chen is lucky. Otherwise it'll be a slow demise as corporate customers begin to jump ship. Its clear nobody is rushing to get on.

  • BlackBerry: Is $20 A Reasonable Target? [View article]
BB beat by 14 cents but still had a loss after gutting all of its employees. Lets say it was 14 cents profits and we'll add $BBM rev ($100 BBM works out to be 20cents or less per share and I'm being generous) so they make $1 per share profit.

P/E of 20x is high for a non momentum stock and even for a niche company that has yet to announce any new customers.

Just because Chen is Asian Thorsten doesn't change the fact they're not growing revenue. What happens if rev remains the same for a few more quarters?

  • BlackBerry soars after FQ1 results; expects break-even cash flow this year [View news story]
As a Canadian, I cheer Blackberry and the BB10 OS.

As an investor, I jeer them for the following reasons.
Still burning cash if you factor our real estate and tax refunds.
2.6m phones is low considering they now have 4 or 5 models out including cheaper new ones.
What concerns me most is whether they are acquiring any new corporate customers. They claim to be targeting businesses but I have not heard yet of any new contracts (even renewals).

I am skeptical about the AMZN store news. It may keep people from leaving BB but I can't see it making anyone adopt BB.

I'm sitting out this one for the summer, may even buy PUTs depending on how high this jumps today.

  • Tesla Motors tips off early 2015 Model X delivery [View news story]
Price of oil has little to do with people who can afford a $100K car.

Part short squeeze, part peopel being impressed the Model X will be delivered in 2015 instead of 2016.

If it hits and hold $225 then the jump is real, however brief. These aren't new sales, deposits already gave us an idea of how many customers Tesla had for the Model X.

personally, I think this is over done and if it approaches $250, it'll get hammered right back down by shorts and money managers. Remember the stellar crash from $260 t $170 just a month ago? When retail give their heads a collective shake, the price will already be on the way down.
Insiders already got a $10 jump on retail and when they pull the rug, they'll have a $15 lead on the way down.
