  • Microsoft Starts To Give Away Windows: Should Investors Give Away The Stock? [View article]
I'm with you. I doubled down on Microsoft when it was down and all the news was about how bad windows 8 was. From 28 its up to 40s now. Compared to other tech giants like Apple and Google, MSFT is far diversified. Depending on how you do the math, Windows is about %10-%15 of profits. Apple depends on the IPhone for over half of its profits.

  • Surface 2 Tablets Are Likely To Gain Traction In 2014, Displacing Other Tablets [View article]
Tablets at most should not cost more than $200. All of them are way overpriced. I just got a Lenovo Yoga 2 pro and I love it. It has more functionality than an Android, or Ipad combined and it is as light as a an Apple air.

  • Cramer's Lightning Round - I'm Not Deviating From Delta (11/4/13) [View article]
Last year I bought DAL at $9. At that time Cramer said airlines were bad now hes all over it. How can this clown say that he's not deviating from DAL now when he never made any recommendation for that stock last year?

  • More on Microsoft: The company's BUILD conference is getting underway, and a preview version of Windows 8.1 (Blue) has been released. Ahead of the event, The Verge reported Windows 8.1's Start button will provide access to a power users' menu that includes shut down/restart options, another sign Microsoft is trying to appease Win. 8 users upset over the loss of the traditional Start menu. Other 8.1 changes include support for new tile sizes, UI/file-syncing across multiple PCs, an image-heavy search view combining local and Bing results, high-res display support, more enterprise controls, a revamped Windows Store with automatic updates, a more touch-friendly keyboard, and a Pandora-like Web radio service[View news story]
Not sure why everyone is focused on the Windows 8 touch interface. I use the mouse more when using Windows 8 and it works just great. I very rarely use the touch screen.

  • "Windows 8’s usability is proving an obstacle to adoption for consumers, with a learning curve that appears to be retarding growth across the industry," writes CLSA's Ed Maguire in his "downgrade" of Microsoft (MSFT) to Outperform. But he also notes 35%-40% of businesses are still on Windows XP, which Microsoft will stop supporting in a year, and that their upgrade activity could boost Windows sales (probably 7 more than 8). Meanwhile, Merrill (Neutral) estimates consumer PC weakness presents $5B in revenue risk and $0.30 in EPS risk for Mister Softee. [View news story]
Usability is not the problem. The problem is price. A 5 year old PC still does the job today so no one is racing to go buy $1000 PCs. Even with my corporate discount the cheapest Win 8 PC I can get is $800 way overpriced!
Cut prices to $500 levels and people will be using windows 8 with no problems.

  • Thanks to the PC industry's woes, Intel's (INTC) capacity utilization rate is down to 60%, well below historical norms, reports industry analyst Jim McGregor. McGregor adds the rate is increasing as Intel burns off inventory, but sees the chip giant saddled with excess capacity for some time, and claims Intel has delayed production at a new Arizona fab (Fab 42). "The walls are up, and they took in some equipment, but they are delaying outfitting it." Intel has set an aggressive capex budget of $12.5B-$13.5B for 2013. [View news story]
Intel executives are idiots. Instead of promoting the Windows 8 launch they were actually bashing it. Its not the best OS, not the worse either but what kind of moron will be bashing a company that their own business relies on? hahaha

  • No mercy has been shown to Microsoft (MSFT -4.3%) today in the wake of IDC's figures (blamed in part on Win. 8) and Goldman's downgrade. Goldman now sees the PC/tablet sales ratio falling to 59/41 in 2014, and thinks Microsoft could respond with price cuts or SG&A spending cuts. Nomura's Rick Sherlund wonders if a breakup or privatization is possible for Microsoft. He notes March was better than Jan. or Feb. for PC sales, but is still downbeat. "It really takes your breath away, just how bad the quarter was." Separately, Argus has downgraded Intel (INTC -2%) to Hold. [View news story]
Hopefully this downgrades will get Balmer fired. Amazon sold its Kindles at a loss to grow its market share. Balmer chose to sell overpriced Surface devices in a tablet market with stiff competition. The typical person is willing to try a device given a competitive price.
Intel's executives are idiots to be bashing Windows 8 when their profits are tied to Microsoft.

  • Microsoft's Surface Pro Will Be A Success [View article]
Sales for the Surface tablet are really micro soft. Something like 1.5 million. Great device however still overpriced. Idiot Balmer should have sold them for a loss to get people enticed to buy them instead he is investing in dumb adds that arent doing anything for sales.

  • Time To Take Profits On The Transports [View article]
Finally a market upgrade for CSX, the dropping coal shipments have been greatly exagerated for this stock. Still debating whether to take returns from DAL, I wonder if it can reach $15. But then again oil could spike anytime from now.

  • Nokia's U.S. Assault Starts As AT&T Announces Lumia Launch [View article]
The Lumias are great phones however Nokia messed up dealing with AT&T. Unfortunately ATT only promotes the IPhone and the Galaxy. The average customer will not know about the Lumia unless they are Cell phone savy to learn about newer phones such as the Lumia. I was just in the AT&T site. You need to do sophisticated searches for it to bring up the Lumia 920.

  • 4M Windows 8 upgrades were sold to consumers during its first 3 days of availability, Steve Ballmer discloses at Microsoft's (MSFT) BUILD conference. An aggressive upgrade price of $40 has something to do with that figure. John Paczkowski notes Windows 7 sales (including new PCs) totaled 175M in their first year, and that Microsoft has a total base of 1.25B PCs. Reviewers continue to complain about using the new UI with a keyboard/mouse, but some users like the revamp, and investor expectations are pretty low at this point. (live blog) (more[View news story]
its amazing how people claim they are tech savy yet find it hard to use Windows 8. My 3 and 4 year olds are using it with no problems.
