Having been brought up in a family burdened by debt, at the age of 30 I decided there had to be a better way. My quest has been to erase $30,000 of debt from the family books and replace the perpetual debt habit with self control, Knowledge, savings & investments. The debt is gone as of March/2009 but my road to Financial education & personal money management will never be over.
I discovered at an early age that information & self control is power towards personal freedom. I took an active approach in learning to manage my personal finances by finding free information in Libraries, online communities like Seeking Alpha, and listening to those within the communities that know more than myself. I began to learn about Debt management, Personal Finance planning, Saving, and many forms of Investing. Spending less than you earn and learning that you don't only have to work for your money, You can make your money work for you seems very simplistic and basic yet it is out of reach for so many families. These principals are not taught to our youth. I believe with community discussions & open forums these Ideas can reach a wider audience & younger audience.
I hope to contribute Positively to the S.A. Community and Learn from the collective knowledge that is Seeking Alpha.
