    M. Rothbard had an interesting question regarding Cycle theory.
    It basically boiled down to "How could all of our astute businessmen come to make such errors together and why were they all suddenly revealed at this (the bust) particular time?"
    That seems to be a problem with the cycle theory?

    I think Stockman is simply pointing out that in the Central Banks attempt to control the Natural expansion/contraction cycle of an economy they in fact create a system so unstable that it tends to go rail to rail (boom and bust).
    I think the Fed manufactures these cycles in that their amplitudes are not natural.
    Also,I'm not sure about the "limitless power" you accuse Stockman of believing in but it does seem the FED has enough power to make the system unstable.
