  • Facebook: Counting Chickens Before They Hatch [View article]
FB has a market cap of 209 billion. Most of the insiders have already sold enough stock options to become rich for the rest of their lives. It doesn't matter if FB goes belly up at some point in the future. They are taken care of.

I think some day, we will look back and see this as the biggest bubble stock in our history. Books will be written about it. This and a few other stocks like Tesla, make the 1999 tech bubble seem like childs play.

Seeking Alpha is a great place for ideas, but I see so many positive articles about this stock here and some of the content of those articles are truly laughable.

At some point, companies are going to realize how little return on their investment they get by advertising on FB. People block the ads, or ignore them.

I remember when Yahoo was 250 per share in the late 1990s and everyone thought they were going to take over the world. The busiest place on the internet back then were the Yahoo chat rooms. They paid billions for aquisitions such as GeoCities. GeoCities was a place to build your own webpage. Their chat rooms and Geocities are a perfect analog for today's Facebook Page. Yahoo eventually shut down Geocities because of lack of use. Yahoo was one of the first to do online banking, but it ended up being a huge lose when BofA and others offered their own online banking.

FB has way outdone Yahoo by paying a whopping 19 billion for WhatsApp which is just one of many messaging apps available on the smartphone. Its easy to create apps for smartphones because most of what you need is already on the phone in the Android Java files for example. Whatsapp might be popular now, just like DrawSomething was, but it wont last long.

The "emperor has no clothes" day will eventually come for Facebook, but the insiders will already have their mansions and yachts and the public who invested will be on the short end of the stick.

  • Will Ello Disrupt Facebook? [View article]
Im still waiting for my invite to Ello. Social media apps go through a predictable life-cylce. Nothing anyone says here is going to change the fact that Facebook will be the next Myspace eventually.

  • Why Apple's Product Launch Rocked [View article]
They seem to be better at marketing these days than coming out with something new. They are playing catch-up with other companies. For the sake of my 401k, I hope they continue to prosper, but I think everyone is fooling themselves including the media, who has become a part of their advertising machine.

This is one of the best articles that I have read on this site. Most of the articles here give some sketchy reason why I should buy a stock, written by someone who never left their desk.
