  • Quick Picks For 2015, 2014 Picks Reviewed [View article]
You may well yet be rewarded for HIMAX with yesterday's announcements of both a patent filing and a core change to Intel as the chipmaker of choice. Unfortunately, Glass is what keeps taking this stock for a rollercoaster ride.

  • Hey Google, Thanks For Nothing [View article]
I would also encourage someone not to invest in a company that has more than just bottom line on its mind. If Google is "trying to save the world", then perhaps it should be placed in a category of ethical investing and as such, allows the owners to explore beyond their core business. It's this philanthropical slant to the company that I value as much as their core business of search.

  • Himax gains after Google Glass arrives in U.S. Play Store [View news story]
HIMX has so many other tools in the shed than just glass... Array camera display, IC for 4K tvs, and they inked a deal with Occulus right before FB purchased them. Don't think for a moment that HIMX won't reward on those other items. Glass is just icing on the cake. And regardless of private usptake for Glass, the medical, military and public service sector (fire, EMT and police) is clamoring for something like this...

  • Himax: Speculative Valuation Demands Greater Caution From Investors [View article]
haschultz- have liked, and continue to like your commentary related to HIMX since I bought July of 13.
What are your thoughts about Occulus after today's announcement of a VR phone released by Samsung? Do you see this as a viable partnership long term? How about FB/ Occulus knocking on the doors in Hollywood?

Solid article with just one small correction- there are over 15,000 advisors in either a 1099 or W-2 role with the company.

  • $10 Or Less: 2 Small Caps Poised To Continue Their Rebound [View article]
Cramer has had more waffles on this stock than an Ihop.... he criticized it 2 days before the Google announcement last year, and then 1 week later compliments Google on being a smart company and buy in on it. 1 month later, says no, 2 weeks later, says yes. I tried keeping a tally on just how many times he went back and forth and quit counting at 5.

Just today, I ran across SA article from June 2013 indicating that Samsung OLED was going to be the chip of choice. Ironically, that's the same chip that is again being rumored.

Lastly, himax just announced a brighter diplay (10000 nits) that effectively negates the issue that led to the Samsung rumor.

Don't look back... but don't count them out just yet.

  • Himax -6.1%; Google reportedly testing Samsung OLED microdisplay [View news story]
This just hit the wire. If Himax truly was being dumped due to brightness issues- this should more than make up for that shortcoming.

Himax's Front-Litâ„¢ LCoS has met the accelerating specifications of head-mounted technologies' display requirements such as a rich and bright image, a compact footprint, and low power consumption. Front-Litâ„¢ LCoS produces over 10,000 nits of brightness and more than 50 nits/mW efficiency - the highest recorded ratio in the entire industry.

  • Himax falls 14% ahead of one-day Google Glass sale [View news story]
You misunderstand my point... People driving H2's have to worry about gas because they weren't owned by the uber-wealthy, but by fairly average, if slightly affluent families.
People that drive a ferrari could care less about the price of gas... if you can shell out $250K or more, what's a paltry $5 gallon for 100 octane? Case in point, the Enzo. $1M car, $30K brake job, or $700 oil change...

    Any way.. back to himax.

Jumped in at 6.50 like we talked about. Unfortunately, hindsight is always 20/20. Still thinking about picking up a handful of shares with this pullback..

So I missed getting in on this at sub $5 prices like I wanted. Had to wait to get some gains back in other places to rob Peter to pay Paul and get in to PXLW. So now that this thing is bouncing above $6.50- anyone have any good suggestions as to an entry point?

I think it would be uber convenient to record lectures and watch them as needed. I tried the old fashioned audio recorders and wound up with a garbled mess that picked up everyone shuffling papers and clearing their throats.

Did anyone else notice Nick Faldo wearing Google Glass giving a "Golf Pro's Eye View" of some sand play during this weekends tournament?

Given the adoption rate of golfers for new "toys" and the fact that there are already 3 Range Finder apps created for Glass- I can't wait for Glass to hit the market!
