  • Residential Solar Is Growing Up [View article]
The CEO of NRG Energy was on CNBC the other day during the CGI and was asked what was the most exciting development in the energy space. His response was (paraphrasing) the declining cost of decentralized solar energy. He added that his firm believes there are currently 30 Million US homes that for economic reasons are good candidates for decentralized solar. As panel, installation, and financing costs continue to rapidly come down this number will quickly increase. Exciting times.

  • Kandi Continues To Impress Investors [View article]

"The fall is due to some heavy investment towards future growth. For example, the company increased its research and development spending from $2.88 million to $3.73 million and the general, administrative and sales costs jumped from $4.25 million to $16.06 million."

Actually, the significant increase in SG&A (277% y/y) can be largely attributed to stock awards to directors and certain employees of $9,658,320 (per the 2013 Annual Report, page 30). This is an increase of $9,599,762 from 2012 and explains 82% of the $11.8M Y/Y increase in SG&A. The statement that "the fall is due to some heavy investment towards future growth" is very inaccurate.

  • Virginia Mines: Goldcorp's Disappointing Eleonore Report Makes This Company A 'Sell' [View article]
What is a comparable multiple that other gold royalty companies trade at? FNV or RG trade at very high PE and multiples of cash flow due to the consistency and relative safety of these earnings. If someone were to buy out VM's royalty --and this is still one of if not the best gold royalty forthcoming-- what would they pay, by way of analyzing other comparable companies? Leaving that information out, makes this analysis incomplete as far as market valuation.

  • Fears Of An Iron Ore Price Collapse Create Opportunities In The Labrador Trough [View article]
What are your thoughts on Altius Minerals as a long time hold and safer play on this district?

Also, if a junior delineates a DSO iron ore deposit, what advantages are there in terms of timeline to get into production? I'm think of some of the DSO deposits in the area and explorers (Mamba Minerals).
