  • Ocean Power Tech fires CEO Dunleavy "for cause" [View news story]
So what's the dealio? Is it going to trade at all today? And if so which way? I mean this CEO obviously wasn't killing it so if he's booted maybe that's a good thing OR does it speak of instability and the stock will crash?

How about just buying the ETFs schwab provides?
Large, small, international, etc....I think they usually recommend about 50% Large (value and growth), 15% small cap, 20% international, with some bonds and cash thrown in to fill it out.

  • Shorting A Stock? 6 Useful Tips [View article]
I think the upside should at least be mentioned in this article; you CAN make money much faster if you're right and nail a short. I think I've heard stocks go down twice as fast as they go up, so to only look at the dangers and downside isn't accurate.

I bought in March 2011 so I know your pain. It just sits there in my portfolio like an old piece of furniture you're not sure why you bought but are sort of stuck with now. I guess I'll just enjoy the dividend and console myself with the thought that it will be an excellent long term play-sort of like when I drafted Calvin Johnson his rookie year in a keeper league:)

  • Major precious metals producers are evolving into value plays attractive to yield-seeking investors, many for the first time, Dahlman Rose writes. Average dividend yield for the eight dividend payers the firm covers is 1.8%, but the group has capacity to increase average yield to 4%-plus by 2014. It sees ABX with the most yield capacity; it also likes NEM, AEM, PAAS.  [View news story]
Wow, just looked at a PAAS chart for the year and MAN is it cheap....anyone know why?

  • Teva (TEVA): Q1 EPS of $1.47 beats by $0.03. Net revenue of $5.1B (+25% Y/Y) misses by $0.4B. The eurozone's macroeconomic woes resulted in weaker generics sales in that region. Declares a Q1 cash dividend of 1 NIS per share.  [View news story]
So....is this good? Will it be well received tomorrow by the market? Btw how do you beat on EPS and yet revenue comes in under projections? I'm just the "man on the street" type of investor and "that don't make no sense":)

I'd like to thank Zacks.com for this pick now up 10% in about 2 mo.:) I haven't heard much about it on "popular" investment shows/articles so I gotta give them props for finding it for me.

  • FirstService (FSRV): Q4 EPS of $0.52 beats by $0.05. Revenue of $594.9M (+7.8% Y/Y) in-line. (PR)  [View news story]
Why is FSRV so cold if all I see is a growing dynamic business with increased earnings and a recovering world economy/real estate? Is it the lack of a dividend? Is it the "sub businesses" they are involved in that confuse investors? Is there something hidden lurking in the darkness only the insiders know about?
