  • Four Bargains in U.S. Integrated Oil Stocks [View article]
I love it when some person uses some ratio without explaining what it is and how derived. What in hell is the McDep ratio?

  • One Year Performance of Large Canadian Bank Stocks [View article]
Simple explanation: the Canadian banks are run like banks- greed and unsafe practice has no place in their operation. They actually try to load money to folks who can repay it- What a concept!

  • Bank Failure Friday Shutters Seven More [View article]
I wish to hell these "reporters" would identify which banks have been closed when they report bank failures. Geographical trends are sometimes meaningful yardsticks for investing.

  • Canadian Banks Should Also Suspend Dividends - RBC [View article]
McQueen is another talking head whose novel idea is to paint all situations with the same brush. People like him should not be able to comment if they do not understand the underlying differences between the American banks and the Canadian banks. Some folks are not as greedy and stupid as others. Guess whose banking system tossed common sense out the door? Take a hike McQueen and clear your brain.

  • Canadian Banks Should Consider Dividend Cuts - RBC [View article]
I will sell my holdings in Canadian banks as fast as possible if they cut dividends. Agree totally with Chezfederick- hopefully the Canadian banks will not be the lemmings to this fiscal mess which the US bankers brought on themselves. The Canadian government is smart enough to stay out of world affairs where it does not see any possible solution and therefore does not spend trillions being the world banker and world police force.

  • FDIC Troubled Bank List up to 252 [View article]
I would be nice if the author would cut the bull and publish the "list" of the banks. His commentary is worthless without specifics.

  • Why Friday Was Such a Critical Day for Bank Stocks [View article]
If Bank of America is dead why did they refuse any more injected capital and make their first payment of 402 million on their TARP loan? Go long on BAC- It will be around for a long time in spite of their dumb decisions.

  • Traditional safehavens like Wal-Mart (WMT) and McDonald's (MCD) have let investors down so far this year, while 8 of the S&P 500's 10 top performers last year lagged the broader market. Prompting this comment from one private banker: Perhaps there is no safety spot.  [View news story]
What a load of bad information. MCD did not let investors down- Just the opposite- they went to quarterly dividends and raised their dividend to $1.50 a share. The banks could do well to copy their management style. I am more comfortable with MCD than any of the miserable banks I have invested in.

  • How Loyal Are Wachovia and Washington Mutual Customers? [View article]
If Wachovia would get off its A_ _ and send out the paperwork for its sale to Wells Fargo- customers are maybe going to have more confidence in Wachovia. As it is now- we have heard nothing, and the transition is supposed to be complete by end of 2008. Wachovia is getting the reputation of being slow to act and this is no exception.

  • Ten Highest Yielding Pharma Stocks [View article]
197175 has said it all- The good ones get stolen and the bad ones go to court. Why don't we extend patent rights to the inventor of each product and protect them for 25 years; that way they do not have to charge as much for each dose to recover costs and they will be assured of a long term profit. Again our government wandering around in the dark!

  • Is Wachovia Really Interested in Morgan Stanley? [View article]
Why in the world would Wachovia wish to add another layer of complex debt to their already fragile structure. They have enough problems with their ill founded purchase of Great Western Financial. Wachovia will come out of it under Steel's guidance, but the Morgan Stanley deal just makes the deep barn dew just a little deeper.

  • Will McCain's Vice Presidential Selection Help the Markets? [View article]
js_mcknz has it right on the nose. How about the trillion debt the current idiots have added on our country. Some people have a short memory- Clinton left office with a surplus- and Rothbort is suggesting that McCain would "Help" the market? How myopic can we as a nation be?

  • Odds Are, a Recession Is Coming [View article]
Time for you and Greenspan to take off the blinders. We are in fact in a recession and darn close to depression. You people who stand on formal definition to determine what is going on have not been able to see what is happening around you. Open your eyes.
