If I buy ( a )stock @ 10 then sell it at 12 and buy it back again at 10 within a three day parameter my brokerage considers it a free trade....I have been cautioned....the big boys with high frequency trades I don't believe are accountable for this practice giving them a leg up.....

  • Judge Lucy Koh yesterday ordered Tim Cook to testify in a lawsuit over whether Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG) and other hi-tech companies breached antitrust laws by agreeing not to try to poach each others' employees. Erich Schmidt is also due to appear in the trial, as is Intel's (INTC) Paul Otellini. Lawyers for the five plaintiffs in the case reckon that damages could reach hundreds of millions of dollars. [View news story]

@DCV ....the glass and aluminum is a little scarey entrusting a child not to drop them on the unforgiveable kitchen floor... classrooms are usually carpeted and I know there are covers available....I have not seen one yet to date..I was hoping aapl was going to implement there liquid metal patent someday soon..also corning( glw) was supposedly working on a glass named Willow which was a step up in strength from Gorilla glass....

..Love your analogy of the broken down old house...in my small town growing up there was a dillapidated victorian....no kids would go near for same reasons...never a light on or any movement... one halloween some kids wanted to show how brave they were and went in.....found elderly woman dead prob for @ 6 mos.... When aapl was on a tear last year I loved not being diversified....now I am starting to change my tune......but I was not diversified with msft decades ago and I did get to enjoy early retirement partially because of that...time smoothes out wrinkles, plenty of time left investing long in aapl....

impatience always seems to cost me money......

There is also the strategy of leading competition down the wrong path.....As in chess the obvious offense may only be to get the opponent to castle to the side of the board where the battle will prevail....disinformation ah! a tangled web we weave.....

  • Apple Sure Looks Cheap [View article]
the fact remains that aapl is a company that last quarter had profits of more than $8 billion. Compare that with Amazon's performance: Amazon lost $247 million in its last quarter. Amazon's price-to-earnings ratio is now 2,767. Apple's is 13. And Apple's profits are growing substantially year over year.
