  • France Telecom Is A Fantastic Dividend Opportunity  [View article]
Tombaum: Same is true with TEF! They can't lay off or retire an employee with it costing an "arm and leg". I bet this is true with most of Europe(?).

  • Telefonica Brasil: 4.61% Dividend With Great Prospects For Growth  [View article]
Rupert: You might want to address the social/politcal situation in Brazil. . The Rousseff government is leaning far left and creating havoc among stock and bond investors. Rising nationalism is a onerus on going problem for investors on LATAM. In my opinion..., It's the number one concern when investing in LATAM. Other than that, I think your comments n VIVO are correct. May I also suggest you take a close look at OIBR, It's smaller than VIV but well positioned too. BAX

  • Windstream Is Not A Buy, Despite Decent Dividend Yield And Valuations  [View article]
Stock gamer: Regarding WIN..., As Harry said long ago..., "If you can't stand the heat.., stay out of the kitchen". Let's move on.., if one desires a secure dividend then purchase T, VZ, VOD, ect... Sidebar: What about CNSL? Is anyone at SA researching CNSL? CNSL purchased SURW a couple of months ago. SURW is a fine company that's going to add substantially to CNSL's portfolio. I used to know Dick Lumkin, CNSL's chairman. Dick's a old Telco guy and very smart. I'd bet on Dick anytime. I'd. also bet(?), when Dick finishes digesting SURW.., he will look at HTCO. Makes sense to me....,that's why Dick renamed his company.., Consolidated Telephone. BAX

  • Cisco: Is Now The Time To Buy?  [View article]
Bill: Questions ...?, are the Cisco executves stiil watering down their company stock with " mucho" stock options (Which makes much of the "stock buybacks" an accounting exercise)? Also, this is also an accounting question, Do the option expenses flow thru the income statement as the should or are they expensed thru the balance sheet? Thanks, BAX

  • Grupo Financiero Santander México: Another High Quality Bank In The Santander Group  [View article]
CV: Thanks for your immediate response. like other SA readers that respond to your articles. I'm " bummed out" over Dilma Rousseff's recent punitive actions against Brazil's electric utility industry. God!!!, i'm beginning to believe that there's no safe haven in LATAM for my investment $$$. It all started 5 years ago, when Hugo Chavez confiscated Telefonos Venezuela at 50 cents on the $, then recent actions by the Kirchener Gov't in Argentina against their fine companies. Hopefully..? You're right!, someday these populist governments will mellow...? in between time.., I'm going to be skeptical. BAX. *PS: I will take a good look at BSMX.., Mexico is booming and I don't think they have a confiscation agenda.

  • Grupo Financiero Santander México: Another High Quality Bank In The Santander Group  [View article]
CV: As usual...well researched article on BSMX. As you know.., I live part time in Loreto, BCS, MX which, so far, is well insulated from the narco/drug culture of the mainland Mexico. I would be cautious of investing any sizable amount of $$$ in Mexico or for that matter any of LATAM with the possible exception of Chile. My opinion..? LATAM is to damm risky! The ugly horns of Nationalism are reappearing. I would agree with your assessment; If you have a desire to invest in Mexican banking.., buying BBVA or SAN is the way to go. Banamex gives you the best coverage of Mexico and is very well managed. BAX
