  • Stocks That Avoid Unrecoverable Foreign Dividend Withholding In Tax Deferred Accounts [View article]
I too will bookmark your article...., a treasure of useful information. You also might want to mention "custodial fees" on dividends(?) Some of these onerous fees add up to 10% - 20% of gross dividends... BAX

  • James Gorman: An Empire Builder At Shareholders' Expense [View article]
Ranjan: Some very good thoughts! I too have owned MS for years and feel as you do. MS has an "elite" BOD...,that is over payed and will not rock the boat. Phil Pursell knows all about unlocking value to create value. This former McKinsey briain crafted the SEARS comglomerate(which failed to work). Purcell convinced former Sears CEO Ed Brennan to buy Dean Witter(remember: stocks and socks) and others. After years of languishing, Purcell then recommended that Sears be dismanteled. i .e All the parts were spun off creating Dean Witter(again), Allstate, Discoverer Card, and of course Sears. For thoes longtime, patient Sears shareholders....,they hit the Jack Pot ! The value that was created by seperating(the above) was unbelievable! So..., maybe(?).., Pursell knows..,what he's talking about. I'm willing to risk it..... BAX

Also! If you're comfortable with Brazil.., keep your eye on OGXPY, they're bringing some huge discoveries into production. OGXPY is part of Eike Batista's empire and(so far?)..., no government baggage. At current prices OGXPY looks very attractive for the patient investor.

  • Look At Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais For A 'Safer' Brazilian High Yield Stock [View article]
Good research Tim. I agree! ' bought CIG years ago and now have"mucho" stock because of regular stock dividends. I've also been looking at EBR, it was selling at $16 a year ago and is now below $7 and is paying a nice dividend. If you buy these Brazil stocks cheap and hang on(?) they can be very profitable.

Michael: Hello! Good article..,wish I had purchased CEO when I first looked at it years ago. You also might want to point out that red chip shareholders must pay an "agent custody" fee on their dividends...i.e. It costs me $200.00 each time I receive my PCCW dividend or 2cents per/sh. BAX

Thanks! Caiman...a sobering article. I participated in a similar event five years ago when Hugo Chavez nationalized Telefonos Venezuela at 50 cents on the dollar. Now this fine company is being run into the ground by graft, corruption and a bloated work force..
