I've been a bit surprised that the price of the stock didn't shoot up in the last few days with folks making purchases to get the dividend. It's been relatively stagnant. I haven't been able to determine whether it's today (Dec 13) or tomorrow (Dec 14) that is the cutoff date for owning the right to receive the dividend. I've read articles that suggest either could be the case. I guess that's a basic provision of stock ownership and I'm sure I can look it up. If you know the answer, I'd appreciate hearing it.
A pair of right-to-work bills are officially passed in Michigan to set the stage for new employees at General Motors (GM +0.3%), Ford (F -0.1%), and Chrysler (FIATY.PK) to skip around union fees. While labor groups are still making quite a bit of noise on the issue, the Big Three have been deathly quiet. [View news story]
I've never understood the idea of mandatory union membership. Union membership should be a choice. I don't work in an industry that is unionized so I don't have any direct experience with this. However, it would be quite unsettling to be forced to join an organization with which I do not agree, forced to pay dues, and have my dues go toward causes with which I do not agree.

I have $2.50 call that expires in December. Any idea what the stock price will do before Friday week? Any idea if Sirius will upgrade guidance or anything that would affect the price in the short term?
I've had Sirius service for several years. I listen almost exclusively to talk radio on Fox network (which doesn't seem to be available on my android). When I'm not listening to talk radio, I listen to Blue Collar radio. I'm happy with the service and I think the price is reasonable.

There have been numerous articles that lay out the possibilities. However, I have yet to see any analysis that details how the various possibilites are likely to affect Sirius stock price. I think that would be very useful.

Dear Rocco,
Your posts becoming more and more offensive and, quite frankly, seem to border on psychotic. Can you not find a way to make your point without the need to resort to ad hominem attacks on those with whom you do not agree (or perhaps more to the point, do not agree with you)?

It would be useful to accompany the analysis above with corresponding information about how these actions are likely to affect the stock price (and associated value of calls/puts for siri). Maybe it's obvious to everyone else but not to me.

Good article. You're right: A picture is worth a thousand words (especially for those of us who are visual)... I like the message and the related data....
NetFlix should get out of the DVD distribution business and focus exclusively on online content. The thing that got them in hot water wasn't splitting off the DVD business, it was their arrogant "we can charge anything we want and if you don't like it, take a hike" attitude. This could easily have been avoided if they had let folks know what they were doing and why they were doing it and how customers would benefit. They were so full of themselves and it cost them dearly. It's a good lesson for other companies to pay heed...

Interestingly enough, right after you read your posting, I received an e-mail from Sirius offering the package you mentioned. I don't know what they're doing to get the word out to get new subscribers, however, they appear to be on track to try to lock in existing members. I will be upgrading to the new offering.
