Why It's Time to Drop Rare Earth Stocks Today [View article]
The point of the links was to provide sufficient evidence that ALTERNATIVE TECHNOLOGIES EXIST AND WILL BE IMPLEMENTED! The articles give arguments for both sides of the story, which I am fully prepared to discuss. If you don't understand the basic economics that Rare Earth prices DRIVE the DEMAND, then you fail to see the forest through the trees. What is Lanthanum up now over average pricing??? about 1400%? How long do you think the end users of these products intend to roll over and accept these costs? Not Long. Either the prices come back to reality, or those quoted "demand" figures that Lynas and MCP keep touting are going to be a distant memory. Look at demand in 2007 through 2010....Demand dropped with the economy. In other words, these products, even at literally dirt cheap prices back in 2008...are not really "needed". Time will tell my friend. I would watch your Lynas position closely and keep close tabs on Nick Curtis's activities! Good Luck!

I have dealt with many banks through the years....I find that one is not terribly different than another regarding service, fees, etc. I have at times HATED Capital One, Citibank, Wells Fargo (neglected to pay my home insurance 3 times!!!)....I am looking at BAC from a business perspective, and a stock investment. P/E ratio right now over just 15.6 with EPS of 86 cents last year. This year, expect well over $1 EPS no matter what happens with the Mortgage Bailout the FEDS are LOOKING FOR.....(read FANNIE AND FREDDIE)....This stock, at current P/E ratio of 15.6, will be worth near $18. Look for a 30% gain on your investment if you enter now. Regarding the $3 fee on your checking account above....BLAME DODD-FRANK.....These two stuck by Fannie and Freddie while time and time again, they were warned of impending danger.....and now, thanks primarily to these two entities, the banks are being FORCED to pass on the lost revenue to consumers. Just as Oil companies simply pass the increased costs onto you, the banks have no choice in the matter. I think BAC will be better in that regard to most, frankly. I have HSBC and they are threatening charges to once-free checking accounts also...you can't blame BAC or any other bank for that mess. All of the banks are getting thrashed right now, and I for one applaud Citi and BAC for paying back their TARP loans with interest and getting back to business....can you say the same about AIG, Fannie and Freddie?
Why Molycorp Is a Buy Despite Its Sticker Price [View article]
JPM underwrote the IPO, and MS owns a good portion of the company stock.....draw your own conclusions....with regard to REE in short term, Lynas corp holds a distinct advantage over US and Canadian Firms.....but tread carefully....
Why Molycorp Is a Buy Despite Its Sticker Price [View article]
Maybe Jim Cramer read the Quarterly and saw that despite massive increases in REE unit prices, the company actually LOST MONEY....again. Conveniently, they "erase" expenditures but expenditures are a part of doing business last time I checked. Oh, they blame costs associated with the IPO, but shouldn't those costs be more or less figured in and would they not be realized PREVIOUS QUARTER more so than latest? Anyway, Japan tragedy can't be good for REE pricing, as demand could suffer do to the focus toward rebuilding and their nuclear issues, but frankly, I don't think the affect on pricing will be significant due to these events.
Why Molycorp Is a Buy Despite Its Sticker Price [View article]
I concede I had the date wrong, but between Feb 8 and 11, 17% drop and a 17 million volume spike on the 11th! That was a huge insider sell off, not that I blame them for getting their take...MS owns 5%...why would I trust them? They'll pump this all day long....JPM and Dalmon Rose underwrote the IPO!!! Why would I trust them? Show me a true upgrade where the upgrader doesn't have a vested interest. I would say that MCP needs to get a LOT more on the table with their plans and their strategies before you shout $85/share from the rooftops.

Why Molycorp Is a Buy Despite Its Sticker Price [View article]
Do I expect them to hold them forever? Not forever, but with the IPO in July and then at the precise moment they were allowed to sell in February, over $1.6 Billion in stock was dumped onto the market??...share price suffered a near 20% decline in a short period...what does that say about what the directors and major shareholders think of the common investor? Not much. It was a nice windfall for many, and I am sure they will be looking to bolster the stock again to get another crack at it.
One more point, is that it should be clear to investors of both Lynas and MCP, that these two mining companies will be primarily dealing in "light" rare earths.....far far far lesser priced than their "heavy" rare earth counterparts. So be careful when pricing REE's....know what your company will be selling, and look at the right price per kg or lb that you might expect to see.
Here is just an example showing the disparity between elements:
These were May 2010 prices, but it matters not. MCP will be dealing mostly with the Lanthanum and the Cerium oxides, correct?

No matter how you want to compare it to the others (Walmart, Target, etc.), or how you want to analyze the data...BB&B has a SOLID management team; a very active stock buyback program; an aggressive expansion plan; great sales numbers; and here is my FAVORITE.....NO DEBT! Growth is GUARANTEED, and the over-reactive sell off after earnings was ridiculous...almost too perfect. This stock will be pushing $70 in the VERY near term.
Even After More Insider Buying, Molycorp Struggles To Generate Upward Momentum [View article]
"More insider buying...."????
Wow, it's been about a year since I've decided to come back and check on old Mark Smith and the MolyCorp scam.
Insider buying you say? Ashburn cashed out after the lies and overblown underwriter pumping after the IPO to the tune of 4.8 Million.....Smith? He cashed out at the same time for 13 Million.....Dolan? who recently ponied up a whopping 249 grand for some MCP shares? Well, he directed 694 Million dollars out of the hyped up scam. So Smith buys $139,750 bucks worth of stock after ripping investors of 13 million in 2011....and those same investors should be impressed with a $101,300 purchase from Ashburn after he picked the pockets of investors for nearly 5 Million! Well, good luck with your project Phoenix! Didn't they say that would be all up and running well before now? I am assuming all of the Environmental issues are all worked out!....RUN, do not walk away from MolyCorp.

Have you considered Newfield Exploration? They seem to be set up well, and took a beating last week on a miniscule miss! Should climb back into the 40's very quickly. NFX.
Navios Maritime Holdings: Strong Underlying Value Play [View article]
Low P/E forever? P/E was 17 or so prior to the financial crisis...even in 2009 it eclipsed 10. Navios is in very good position relative to other shipping firms, but the stock seems to be struggling later. It really SHOULD be trading in the $5+ range.
Why It's Time to Drop Rare Earth Stocks Today [View article]
To Mike Holt and OMG.......So, how are you two feeling about the Rare Earth Element industry today? How did you do with MolyCorp? Re-reas everything I posted and tell me that in April, I didn't see the writing on the wall. Hate to say I told you so...but....
YRC Worldwide Is Rapidly Approaching Value Territory [View article]
Of course bill count and pricing are critical. However, can you provide specific documentation that YRCW is "underpricing" their current contracts? I hear this rhetoric often from short investors, but have never seen the proof. The earnings reports indicate that revenue per ton have risen steadily as the economy moved away from the recession indicating more favorable pricing. Does ABFS or CONWAY really price their services that distant from YRCW? I would find that very difficult to believe. In addition, much like the dry shipping industry, I realize that there are spot pricing contracts and longer-term contracts. If YRCW hold longer-term contracts that provide current customers with a discount to current pricing, but this "keeps the lights on", then what is so wrong with that. If YRCW can regain their footing, pay down their debt, eliminate losses, this is a solid start to rebuilding their company. If you expect $2 a share per quarter, you will be disappointed, but all I ask is that they stop the bleeding.
YRC Worldwide Is Rapidly Approaching Value Territory [View article]
A review of the 3rd quarter bill counts for YRC national indicates that volume has increased significantly over 3rd quarter 2010, as well as 2nd quarter 2011. Normally, regional follows lock-step with National, so I would expect good volume numbers form them as well. Regional is the more streamlined and efficient (read PROFITABLE) of the two, thus 3rd quarter earnings may be stronger than most want to believe. New management will need to move quickly to erase the Zollers influence and convince current and prospective clients to count on YRC being around and providing a good delivery product. Zollers was completely ineffective as he lost the trust of those around him and investors as well. He made some errors, and unfortunately got caught in bad timing with the financial crisis. The company has streamlined and regarding YRC not upkeeping their fleet, I have personally seen improvements in the rigs I see locally here in my area. They look like NEW TRACTORS! So, not sure all this bashing is really called for. I am investing a cautious amount into the company based on what I am seeing from bill count increases in these tough times. If the economy picks up, trucking will be one of the first to realize the benefits.
So here is Mark Smith saying himself that there may be a "bubble forming" over Rare Earth Prices and to not build a business model on prices that have spiked 600 to 700%....yet, that is today what Mark Smith and his pals at JPM and Dahlman-Rose are basing MCP's NPV on.....and this is on older intereview! Since then, the prices have surged far higher! I guess it's a Lawyer's perogative to "change his mind"!
