Customers are satisfied with Apple products. Apple works at providing an excellent customer experience. Once Apple gains a customer Apple tends to keep that customer. And as more people are introduced to Apple through Apple's stores, iPhones and iPods, they will consider a Mac when their current PC bites the dust.

Apple makes its money selling hardware. The software is thrown in as a freebie to make those hardware sales. It's true Apple makes compelling software, but relatively little of its income comes from software sales.
