  • Dividend Growth Investing: Myths 16-20 [View article]
This is a great article for a newbie investor such as me. There are so many metrics and terms bandied about, so many different ways of trying to measure value, that it becomes incredibly overwhelming to the neophyte. Thanks,

  • Plenty Of Reasons To Love Home Depot [View article]
The major reason I will not invest in HD is because of it's absolutely terrible customer service. Poor customer service led to the demise of Hechinger's and I could see that happening to HD. Plus, their merchandise is generally of poor quality, their stores are dirty, noisy and disorganized. All this adds up to a decline in their fortunes in the long term, in my opinion.

  • Why I Sold 5.06% Yielding BioMed Realty Trust [View article]
I think this article is very short-sighted. It points out that the financials of BMR are essentailly unchanged from when the author bought BMR stock. Yet, on the basis of a speculative forward P/E and the possibility of an interest rate rise - despite the Feds holding firm on interest rates - he recommends selling. This notwithstanding the admittedly good dividends.

  • Texas Instruments Boasts A Strong Dividend But Shares Are Surprisingly Pricey [View article]
You made a mistake, Emerald. The company does have a growth plan, as evidenced by its shedding of wireless and focus/acquisition of embedded system company. Look at the latest numbers for TI; they are getting stronger all the time.

I cannot get past their debt load. Also, if the economy downturns, I think their specific products would not sell as they are nonessential. Thus, I think I'll pass on PF.

  • The Difference Between Owning Brands And Being Owned By Them [View article]
For the same reasons expresssed by Dividend Bull, I try to invest in companies that have lower share prices (and lower yields & dividends) but which I think have potential for growth in dividends over the long run. Right now I am thinking this through as I contemplate a purchase of either Emerson Electric or GE.

  • This Steady High Dividend Stock Has Tripled Its Dividend In 2 Years [View article]
reading these comments makes me wary about Orchid. Particularly that they are located in 1 place, and have only a 2 year history of dividend payouts. Although the price is low (always a consideration for me!) I'm not sure Orchid is the best use of my limited resources.

  • Don't Hang Up On AT&T, The Stock Has Room To Grow [View article]
I too like T for the reasons stated in the article. Some suggest that T might not be a god long term hold because of declining wireline revenues. But wireline is dying and it's death impacts all carriers. I think T is very smartly moving to minimize the almost-certain decline in wireline revenues. One carrier I would be reluctant to invest in is Sprint because its pricing options and data plan options seem unsustainable and I think this will surely lead to a decline in revenue for S.
