  • John Hussman: Preparing for Extreme Possibilities [View article]
Thanks Dr. Hussman, this is some of the best work on the street. I read the whole article, not just the excerpt.

Hooke's law, it felt a little like that today. Pure, unabated buying.

  • S&P 500 Down More Than 1% for First Time in 26 Days [View article]
With the Financials hemorrhaging so much capital, I am having difficulty believing that the market can rush higher with that occurring. Can the S&P rally without the 15% or so that the Financials consume?

  • Updated Year-End S&P 500 Price Targets from Wall Street Strategists [View article]
Just for historical comparisons, what were the targets in early to mid 2001 for the S&P that year by major straegists?

  • Friday's Outlook: Stick a Fork in Mr. Market [View article]
Mr Market is always right. And tomorrow, rational or irrational he will be right again. Maybe there will be panic tomorrow, with Europe and Asia torching Monday/early Tuesday.

Great analysis David, I do also think a rally of some sort is inevitable. But still not enough panic.

  • Friday's Outlook: Stick a Fork in Mr. Market [View article]
There were tons of pundits saying surprise rate cut. Not much of a surprise if you ask me. 1280? 1250? Not enough panic yet, and the shorts are carrying the ball here with lots of powder.

  • Interpret a Stagnant VIX As You Will [View article]
It appears somewhat that there is demand for stocks at least in the short term.

  • David Fry's Market Outlook for Wednesday [View article]
I am attempting to determine what happens when the adult supervision returns next week from the golf course.

Comments on that Case-Shiller looking like a historical bottom or too much inventory to even think that to be possible?

  • David Fry's Market Outlook for Friday [View article]
Just watching the market churn this AM, I am trying to be convinced that this party stops and 10% and it is 1998 all over again.

But the VIX up 1.2% right now and the sellers feel close by.

    Excellent commentary.

Comments on Schwab here DF, try down for 3.5 hours during that XLF rally. From noon to 330PM EST we were out. And when the smoke cleared and the rubble piled up, the short positions were a small and steaming pile.

And now today with the discount rate move, a one day outage at the "top" online firm, has wrecked a few months of work. Looking for the definition of trailing stops....

  • David Fry's Market Outlook for Thursday [View article]
David, very good comments. This is what a hangover feels like, visualized, and with monetary consequences.

The KBE looks so painful, and nobody has raised their hand to indicate there is a problem.

Overall market down 10% from the high for those waiting for a correction, but I cannot yet stomach another drink.

  • David Fry's Market Outlook for Friday [View article]
Well, breaking news today on GS and C on losses leads me to believe XLF takes a battering again next week. However, my timing is notably poor so likely a rally. Who knows. I didn't believe when Ritholtz wrote about a Dow 14,000 melt up. One gut feel is that we go lower before we go higher, and that if the underlying rot is worse as we peel back the layers, then see you in 2010 when we recover. Maybe. Just buckle the seat belt. I think that is the best advice.

Interpreting the FXB:FXY, that chart certainly says something in the March timeframe. Another unwinding would presumably show here, but what did the chart look like pre-March and was it predictive of the March sellof?
