  • Which IT Outsourcing Stock is the Best?  [View article]
The average salary for a fresh hire is 3 lakh/annum. I dunno where you got this 12000/ month figure!May be you are talking of 1998-99!
For experienced hires, the salary average is about 1.5-2 lakh per year of experience.

  • Infosys' Weak Outlook: Appreciating Rupee, Rising Wages To Blame [View article]
I agree that the price differential advantage is eroding. About seven to eight years back engineers in India were earning 1/10th of their US counterparts in dollar terms. Now they are earning 1/2 to 1/4th of their US counterparts. The gap is shrinking fast.Companies are outsourcing because they can't find enough people with the required skill set in the US. The cost advantage is there but its significance is slowly getting reduced.

  • Infosys' Q1 Results: Gains From Rupee's Strength [View article]
Infosys has been an underperformer in Indian Markets and continues to be so. The rupee impact is there to be seen. Already rupee projections are pegged from 36-39 in one year. One should have checked INFY CFO's statement on rupee-he was so unsure of the rupee movement!
Check INFY's comparison with another small IT stock called APTECH. Looks like glory days of INFY are behind us.

  • Indian Outsourcing Stocks: Beware The Stronger Rupee [View article]
And also one has to take into account rising salaries in Indian IT sector. I personally know how Accenture had to increase salary of many of its employees because of higher attrition rates.
Come to Bangalore and you will find how Indian IT employee is the king these days! In some domains, Indian IT salaries stand at only half the corresponding US salaries.
The only way out for IT companies might be to move up the value chain. The plain vanilla cost arbitrage might not work out that effectively.
