Ouch, what a hoot. Soon a car company will hire engineers that follow the kiss principal (keep it simple stupid), to design a car that will be easy to fix with only basic electric parts for reliability and security. Welcome to the 1970 Honda, Toyota, Datsun (Nissan for you young uns) and V dub (electric door locks and windows optional).;-)

Is there really any gold to sell? Has it been loaned or ? already? Do they physically have it in the CB of Cyprus? More paper swap? It really is continuing to sound like a bad soap opera. Maybe this is how they are getting the gold to return to Germany? Enquiring minds want to know.

LT, But..but.. that sounds like insider trading. Trading on knowledge that isn't public, before it is made public.(sarc off) Just admitted, nothing will be done about it, look at the Congress people that trade on similar info.

ii, Guess I wasn't very clear. I was commenting on 2 separate issues. The PHEV being Lithium is (at this point) the best tech available. For the S/S app there are other techs available. ;-)

Hi Rick, The large cruise ships are now powered by electric pods, I haven't done any research as to what the total set up is. After the recent fiascos the cruise lines have had, they may be looking at some sort of back up power (engine compartment fire as an example leaving the ship dead in the water). http://bit.ly/YleSdv http://fxn.ws/10TMaMS http://bit.ly/YlePP8

ii, There is another article on that site that says JCI has been awarded a contract for Lithium battery development for PHEV applications dated 4/9/13.
As to A123 throwing a monkey wrench into the other issue, I'm all for anything that wipes away preconceived notions and pet projects instead of testing the best tech.
Thanks Rick, While I like the looks of the car, what you have said confirms that we aren't there yet for mainstream EVs for price or infrastructure. Next!

HTL, I'm thinking that might explain some of the delay from TGs statements to the announcement of the automated process. If he thought it was ready to go and a bug suddenly was found, there could be no announcement until the bug was fixed. All I know for sure is that the process works now and am speculating that it took longer to get up and running than he thought at the time he said to put on your seat belts.

HTL, Just a possibility. In a past life I was a repair and fabrication weldor at a truss production factory. During the time I was there the company was automating the process from hand nailing the trusses to using pneumatic and hydraulic presses to dramatically improve production. The engineers designed the system, the techs made it work, but there was one bug that threw us off schedule and the engineers and techs spent months trying to fix it with high tech gee whiz fixes. The problem was finally fixed by a lowly worker bee with a low tech 2x4. Every process takes longer than thought and the bugs that slow you down can have surprising answers that seem obvious when found.

Not sure about any nefarious reasons, but I could build a conspiracy theory around the subject. I do, after all, wear a TFH. ;-)
