  • Quantifying iPhone 6's Potential Cannibalization Of iPad, It Is Not Pretty [View article]
I'm sure Apple has thought of this, but what happens when a phone no longer fits in your pocket. As a casual phone user that uses a phone for a phone and maybe send 2 texts a day to my wife, I would be happy with a flip phone that fits in my pocket with room to spare. Seems to me we are going backwards to the brick sized cell phone clipped to the belt or in a brief case. Yeah I know, look at everything they do. But do I really need it to do all that stuff? Besides, to surf the web and read email, these old eyes need a fairly large screen (14 inch or better works) and I don't feel the need to have constant access to the internet or email.
    Yeah, I'm an old geezer.;-)

    Ronin,
The way the markets have been and continue to be, I remain still dazed and confused.

    Ronin,
DM was pointing out the senselessness of the speculation and I was adding a sarcastic remark. I guess sarcasm doesn't come across too well.

I leave my cell phone on the desk, cool, a dual function tool that makes phone calls and shows the time! Dilemma solved.

As a practical use for tablets in a business environment I see tablets with WI-FI replacing the clip board on shipping and receiving docks for supervisors and managers. Shock protected tablets have been mounted on forklifts for years with barcode scanners attached. The iPad and most of the other tablets are consumer toys, pretty, limited functions and not very productive. Just like a Circle K or the AM PM, paying a high price for mobile convenience.

I don't have a smart phone, so I don't understand all the fuss. My grandkids have all had the iPhone and are now all using Androids (very happily). What I do know is that the buying public is fickle, what they love today can have a backlash caused by some simple oversight and the whole product stream becomes hated over night. The Steve Jobs followers may no longer stay loyal to APPL if management doesn't prove innovative, creative and marketable. JMHO, many APPL fans were only there for the Steve Jobs story and will eventually find another icon to follow. It is hard to maintain a cult of personality if the leader of the cult is dead.

It's a standard problem now for both, if you don't believe it that is fine, just be very careful. I gave you fair warning.
