Sounds like a heavier impact on margins if this proportion of the mix is maintained to other carriers around the world.

Anyway looks like a really big bet o iPhone number will be printed in the quarter.

I'm really trying to understand your +45M prediction with the US expected numbers and before rest of the world, but I'm not having success. I explain why:

Last year Q1 Apple sold 37M iPhones. Having the 2012 US expected sales numbers in the 3 major carriers and subtracting from the 2011 US sales numbers in the same 3 carriers I got 2.9 million difference from last year sales. (+0.4m AT&T, +1.6m VZ, +0.9M S), so with this number I add in the total iPhones sales number of the Q1 2011 that was 37M and we have about 40M iPhones not counting the rest of the world sales improvement. In the best case scenario adding +1M of unlocked iPhones and we reached 41M before the rest of the world.

So how you reached this 45M number? Thanks

  • A Cheaper iPhone Would Confirm A Lack Of Innovation And Declining Margins At Apple [View article]
I respect your article but I don't agree.

The same thing happened with iPod / Cheaper Models/Smaller Models.

The same thing happened with the Mac Books. Mac Book Air its a cheaper model, smaller and with less power.

The same thing happened with iPad: A smaller less expensive model and Mini its a hit everywhere.Like iPod Nano and the Mac Book Air.

Now it's the iPhone time. Apple is genius in design, cheaper/smaller model don't mean inferior design. With a cheaper phone Apple kills Samsung.

Look the others markets. Like auto: When Porsche launched the Cayenne SUV everybody in the world complained: Cheap model, don't have the soul of a Porsche bla bla bla. The results? Porsche is today the most powerful sport/luxury brand in the world and ALMOST buyoed VW.

Bmw, Audi even Mercedes are producing cheaper models, smaller models to expand the mix and have new customers.

Margins probably will go down, but who cares? Look AMZN. Market like growth and revenue.

Margins down don't mean less profit. The revenue increase will more than offset the decline in the margins.

  • This Could Be Why Apple Shares Are Down [View article]
Every day is a drama for AAPL.

Now its the excuse of tax selling. There are other stocks that is up 100% this year and nobody is selling to avoid higher taxes, e.g: BAC.

Apple is suffering one real assault from the media coverage day by day. Estimates are right now on the ground with the earnings to be released in less than a month. Today was everything about tax selling and the Digitimes iPad Mini estimates of shipping for the current quarter of 2012. Digitimes its a joke and never had one real acurate forecast... but its Apple, and every negative news right now have a big impact on the stock.

That's why I think its a real time to buy and sell around 600s to 650s after earnings for a quick profit or hold for a long term position if you believe that Apple will still be the king of its sector. The stock right now have one extreme degree of manipulation and this is happening to big players get in the trade.

    AAPL is a buy.
