Not quite. You can have confirmed sales but effective the following quarter. Next Quarter will be critical. I think it will be harder to hit the 500m.

    Manfred,

Did you ever stop to think during your soliloquy that those that are close to might be the ones that have it right and they are not delusional?

    Hi KIA,

You are absolutely correct. I am wrong. I attributed something I read in the comments sections to you. Please accept my apologies.

Anyone remember the KIA article trying to downplay SecuSmart acquisition because it was hardware based.

KIA conveniently forgot to mention SecuCall. A cross platform app based call encryption that is will available to enterprise and general consumers.

  • Can BlackBerry Reach Profitability In FY2016? [View article]
    Hi EA,

    As always great article.

In the Investor Update that they are expecting $500m in Software Revenue and $100m in BBM (total $600m). During the questions and answer period, an analyst asked for clarification and Chen confirmed that $100 from BBM was not included in the $500 software revenue.

The big question mark for me right now is not whether the numbers make sense, it is whether they can get the sales on the software side.

Execution is going to be difficult, but I still came away impressed by the Update for BES12. The VPN services was a huge one, BBM Meetings and Dual Sim.

  • BlackBerry: How Many Passport Smartphones Has BlackBerry Actually Sold? [View article]
    Good Work KIA,

It would not surprise me if there are ~400K sold in the 1st month. Again just speculation based on what Craig 21 posted here and bungaboy at crackberry.

I think you are correct there are some lofty expectations here from some posters.

What is unusual about this phone in comparison to the Z10 and Z30 is that there seems to be a lot more interest from what I am reading in the social media.

Who knows what that will translate into but if the buzz continues to other BBRY devices the 10 million JC targeted will not be a difficult to reach.

  • Where Does BlackBerry Go From Here? [View article]
    Mr. KIA,

From my perspective, what makes Blend compelling is that the information from the blackberry device is projected on a laptop or any tablet. No information is actually stored on the laptop or tablet. However, you have full capabilities to do your work on the PC or tablet.

For me this a great feature. I don't need to log into VPN to access my email and calendar and work files if I need to work on a larger screen.

In addition, it is more secure since there is only one source for the data. I can do my work and when I'm done I just disconnect and no information has been stored on the PC. And all my work has been saved on the phone.

The potential I see here is that any phone can have a cross platform blackberry secure messaging application coupled with blend. There is no need for outlook and there is no need for VPN. The cell phone has replaced the laptop or desktop as the main computing device. You just need dumb terminals for larger viewing access of the data. You can also add additional services such as secure encrypted voice calls (Secusmart) and dual phone numbers (Movirtu) on one phone.
