  • Solazyme-Bunge renewable oils plant begins commercial production in Brazil [View news story]
I can forgive a hiccup in business that is to be expected. But not to cover probable and obvious pitfalls is unacceptable. Not making real sure steam and power would be available for a plant to open on time is enlightening. A really bad mistake, not to have redundancy in steam and power. Now it seems to be solved, or is it. The co. that was supposed to supply these things is now to be considered unreliable. And still no backup at Moema should the power co. fail again.
Solazyme is riding for another fall, backup systems are called for, and no excuses please. Seems to me a startup would like to show basic sense about these things.

  • 4 Reasons Why Solazyme Is Pursuing AlgaVia & Encapso Now [View article]
Good to hear what happened, had me doing a big wonder about the future of the co. But these things are bound to happen, as the piece says execution is so vital at this time. So yes the co. has to prove itself sane and sensible as well as able. Long-term relationships these days are hard to find or create. Nothing worthwhile is easy seems to be a universal fact.

  • Solazyme's Algal Oil Is Sought To Replace Palm Oil [View article]
Yes, all true, but reality is money. Up till now they really haven't had that much money to work with. Most of it being borrowed, they have already started payments on this debt no doubt. The expansions to production with ready buyers should go toward what you have espoused. The world being the size it is the requirement for monies to build out the plans already in place are covered. The guys at solazyme seem to be right on things, consider borrowing too much a no no at this point.

  • Why Solazyme Believes Algae Milk Is The Next Big Thing [View article]
I can see surely how a new market name will not be bought for several yrs. in mass. Even tho you all will drink anything, would be a little more careful about new things. I would like to see how many people fall over and can't get up, Get your little buttons around your necks just in case. YES, chevron has indeed bought in after running the stuff through their analysis proving the stuff is very close to petroleum (texas tea) . See what the experienced investors on SHark Tank would say about going into the food stuffs and not the energy field first. No none of you can invest for me thank God, I would be right beside you in the gutter I am afraid. LOL algae milk I think even the Orientals would walk on by and buy soy milk instead.
You think algae blooms might have something to do with slow acceptance could be. Time will tell, lets see if the co. tanks because they were in love with epicureanism in stead of something that makes the world go round. :O :) keep smiling and stay tuned .

phew, I think we have soy milk fans here. Check market size, soy milk market vs the oil market. Wow no comparison. And chevron owns 52% of SZYM so you know SZYM has a world class distributor in Chevron Corp. Even if soy milk sells for more than gasoline per gal. how many gals of gas vs gals of soy milk. ARE you people NUTS or what?:) Seriously tho I still think szym is making a very large error here.

Breaking into a crowded segment like specialty food is iffy. If you don't have a recognized name, if your product isn't accepted, if the big monkey in that segment doesn't rain on your parade. All very expensive iffys with a real possibility of complete failure. So Why do it, seems wrong-headed to me.

This is bad news I think this sideshow of breaking into the food business is a wrong turn for the co. szym. Where they will make a huge splash and garner world-wide acclaim is in the energy front.
They also can produce a crude oil replacement that isn't as crude as crude oil. From algae, they can produce an oil or fuel that can almost go from production directly to a diesel engine and run very well. Also with a little refining it can be used as a gasoline replacement. At a very small cost as compared to the usual route for out-of-the-ground crude oil. If that doesn't ring your bell nothing will. Crude out of the ground just has become too expensive to survive in the market. That my friends is not an incremental advance but a vast revolution.

  • Bad Quarter? Chevron Continues To Act Intelligently [View article]
After Chevron bought Gulf a friendly takeover they discovered the paper assets were much better than the actual assets that is the trucks and infrastructure were terrible. OOOPs, should have been much less friendly. Since then they have been more careful when buying unseen assets. Be assured if Chevron sees a bargain they will be there firstist with the mostist. :)

  • Lowe's: The Retailer With Insulation From Amazon [View article]
Lowe's man what a loser store chain. If they would actually do the right thing I wouldn't have anything to say. BUT, they rejoice when they have you in a tough spot. Installers who short out the appliance and say no it's fine, and 3 days later it dies. Then grumble about the customer like somehow I was a fault. Beware of " bring it up to speck" garbage when it takes 2 1/2 hours @ more than $300.00 per hour. And I could have done it, if I only knew what "bring it up to speck" means, a half wit could have done it. Nothing a 10 year old couldn't do. How about it have others this kind of rip-off from lowe's ? Best thing to happen is they go out of business REAL SOON.
