MARKET ROUT BEGINNING: STILL TIME TO GET OUT [View instapost]
Thanks for the info. I agree with your thesis. Here in Florida the housing market is anything but fixed. Still many half developed neighborhoods growing nothing but weeds. Only apartments taking off. Resale for existing homes improving but foreclosures still sky high. Nothing down here to support to huge gains in housing related stocks. That said, remodeling is doing well. So if I was to play a proxy I might look at HD, MAS or USG type stocks.
Agree with you on tech. I got out of EMC and INTC earlier in the year at the highs and am glad I did.
At this point I'm 75% cash because I'm not sure what to do. Was buy and hold for the last 30 years and got sick of drops and having to wait for 5 years until it came back (ala INTC or GE). Been trying to become a swing/options trader of the last year with limited success. :( Not as easy as it seemed on paper.
Any concern over latest lowered CAPEX numbers? These are big dollars machines for most. Not an MRO type purchase. Just wonder if the general increase in mfg pessimism will have companies put off purchasing this machines at this point. I think this view holds even more for SSYS.

Your description of Hanoi sounds a lot like central Florida. No one ever believes the incredible volume of a tree frog can come from something so small.
Thanks for you insight. Would like to hear your opinion of investing in Vietnam. Working in the mfg industry, I am seeing much interest in moving from China to Vietnam as the next low cost supplier. May be a little early but as I say, the interest is strong.
Taking Advantage Of 3D Systems' Slowdown [View article]
John - Any new thoughts going into earnings? CAPEX spending is down across the board for US companies and DDD and SSYS are priced for perfection. It would seem either they hit earnings and report slower growth going forward or miss and still report slower growth due to said CAPEX reduction. Thinking of shorting via puts. Thoughts?

Thanks for the article. Been watching HGG since they opened a store in my area. True to my Peter Lynch style of investing, it is my opinion that our local store sucks - especially for appliances. The associates were clueless. They basically read me the info off the marketing labels.
I agree with your inclination to short. I'll probably wait closer to next earnings so as to not get caught up in some unforeseen event. I cannot imagine a good outcome for this company.

As an ex-design engineer, I love the premise of this company. It could shave months off the product development cycle not to mention the costs associasted with outsourcing prototypes. This is the type of disruptive technology that "could" be the multi-bagger when the market returns to an uptrend.
However, I agree with Advill's comments to go all in at this point.

Great article Josh. I shorted CRM this afternoon when it crossed below the 200. I posted it on stocktalks and was quickly reminded of how difficult this stock is to short because of the large institutional influence. You mentioned it ever so briefly so could you expound on what it would take for them to unload their shares. To start the landslide so to speak?
Ron Johnson's Plan Puts J.C. Penney At Risk [View article]
That may be so but coincidentally, or not, he was also granted a $53MM pay package. He hasn't worked there a year and he has already disposed of 777k shares at a high of $42. Yes, I'm sure he believes in the company as long as it benefits him. Haven't seen him buying any lately. If he stays another year I'd be very surprised.

Regardless of his AAPL pedigree, this guy will do to JCP what Nardelli did to HD -> run it into the ground and then bolt with some obscene golden parachute. Just visit a store and talk to the employees. Absolutely no enhusiasm working there - just like HD at the time. If there is no positive "vibe" in the store calling a sale a month long value wont change anything. Short JCP since I saw their first Old Navy/Target looking flyer.
Jive Software: Current Star, Future Wallflower? [View article]
Having lost 20% of is value since this article was published, what is the feeling going forward into the end of the IPO lockup period? With SCGF and KKR owning such a large number of shares at such a low price, it almost seems obvious they will dump a portion of them on June 11th. No?
Thinking of playing puts on JIVE and was looking for any indication they are in any different straights than before.
