I have been investing in stocks for over 32 years. I’m a CFP, licensed since 1988. I was a CFO/Financial principal (series 7, 24 and 27) of a retail brokerage firm, at one time a R.I.A. (Registered Investment Advisor), and worked as a Sr. Financial Analyst for TransAmerica prior to its takeover by Aegon.
What motivated me to write articles on Alpha Seeking was the blatant disregard for the truth on numerous articles that are posted here. These articles then end up as ‘news’ on financial sites such as Yahoo and MSN. Unfortunately when posters such as ‘Research’ firms write these articles, material facts are ignored and the ‘truth’ as they see it is whatever they can say to affect the price of the stock so more ...More money goes in their pockets. These posters are no different from any individual yelling ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater. Case in point is a most recent article slamming Advanced Battery Technologies. I’m from the Ronald Reagan school of ‘trust, but verify’. Unfortunately readers of this one article trusted the author but when the sky is falling who has the time to verify.
